My Docs, IE and My Computer icons are missing

Archived from groups: microsoft.public.windowsxp.newusers (More info?)

I have just got a new PC with XP Home pre-loaded. The icons for My Documents,
Internet explorer and My Computer appear in the Desktop Folder but are not
visible on the desktop itself. Is this a switch setting or something. How do
I fix this?

Right click anywhere on your Desktop, choose 'properties' then select the
'Desktop" tab. Click on the 'Customize Desktop' button and check the boxes
to the icons you mention in the "Desktop icons" section, and click 'apply'
and 'OK' as needed on the way out.
