First off guys I am a programmer I will be compiling things as big as a linux kernal really I just want one monitor that is pretty solid and a PSU that will not choke my components. My budget is 1400.
 
-pretty hard to break a CPU. just dont touch the bottom
-pretty easy to bend pins on the socket so dont touch that either.

no. all you have to do is put a pea sized blob of thermal paste in the middle of the CPU and the goop will spread out from the pressure from the heatsink. too much thermal paste will have negative effects on your temps

No don't put it under the heatspreader. Just put it on top where the heatsink will touch. Some extreme people pry off the heatspreader and put better paste under there. It is for min/maxers, not really for someone who will only slightly overclock.
