Hello everyone! I've been using prebuilt computers so far until I had enough with my very bad GPU so I decided to switch it and now im looking to build a whole computer myself. I'll be using the GPU and PSU i bought with it since the prebuilt computer didn't have psu with connector to GPU.

I will be using the computer mostly for gaming (World of wacraft, league of legends, l4d2 and some steam games that don't really require alot such as bindings of isaac) on high/ultra graphics and I won't be overclocking in the near future (maybe later) because this is my first build and I have near to no experience with this kind of stuff. Many say overclocking is simple and the internet is filled with guides but I have also heard that it can be really hard.

I've been thinking about something like this:
PSU: Coolermaster GX 550w (already bought)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti (already bought)
CPU: Intel Core i5 4670K 3.4 GHz
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB low profile
mobo: ASRock Z87 Pro 4
sdd: Samsung 120GB 840
hdd: Western Digital 500GB Caviar Blue, SATA III, 7200RPM, 16MB
case: Antec One Mid-Tower Gaming Case
OS: Windows 7 64-bit

My main concern is the PSU because people have suggested me to get a new one as if it is unreliable but the reviews i've read say it's a good psu. Maybe because it's a little old? (I bought mine like 2 months ago)

This totals about ~800 euros (plus the gpu and psu) and that's my budget.
Also, I live in Finland.
 
Why is that so? I would like to know because it seems to be pretty decent one and it has had good reviews.
 
Sometimes they will not put up bad reviews or very little of them and those are selected. A lot of Power supplies are made with things like cheap capacitors and the like. If one should fail, it could take the Motherboard as well as other components with it. That is one reason we say to never skimp on a PSU.
 
Okay. What a shame..... 79 euros thrown away like trash. Thanks for the fast answers though :)
Any comments on the rest of the build? Everything looks good? I know there would have been better GPUs but I'll stick to my 650 as it's not that bad.
 
Alrighty. The price difference of pro and basic seems to be quite small though and i've read you can barely notice the difference.
 
UPDATE: what about Asus Z87-A instead of ASRock Z87 Pro 4? incase i wanna overclock in the future. would be 22 euros cheaper
 


When somebody is trying to come up with a nice rig on a Budget, I will recommend ASRock as they are good boards. You can cut some cost without really sacrificing quality.

 
Just making sure but are all the parts compatible with eachother? I read that the Haswell CPU doesn't work with coolermaster gx 550w. what about rest of the build?
 

It should as it doesn't use as much as the earlier processors. A rule of thumb, is to not skimp when it comes to the PSU ( get a good reliable one ) and also no point in going for overkill either ( I am known on another board for PSU overkill 😀 ). The truth is, if you try to cheap out on a PSU, if it goes, it could take out your Motherboard as well as other components. A rather expensive fix for something that could have been avoided with just getting a quality PSU at the start.


 
So I've been reading alot about AMD's processors today. Would my performance (In world of warcraft for example) take a hit if i bought an AMD FX-8350 instead of i5-4670k?
 
The one thing I don't see listed is a monitor. For the money you're putting into the rig, don't skimp on the monitor. Go with an IPS-style monitor - it'll show-off your graphics, give you intense color depth, and make text and icons sharp and clear. I know its made a day and night difference on my computer.
 
Its reviewed to be a good quality monitor, but its no IPS monitor! If you have a chance to see an IPS monitor, do so, you'll be convinced its worth the investment (my LG IPS cost me 130$ US).

 


I'm Running a Syncmaster 2243 BWX. I need to modify my desk ( Remove a partition for shelves ), in order to use a larger Monitor with better resolution than 1680x1050. 😛
 


I have a LG 42" HDTV ( 120 Hz ) and if that thing is any indication, the monitors have got to be good.

 
Others have said it, but I cannot stress how you shouldn't use that PSU, it is very likely to die and hurt other parts of your PC.
You should be able to get a full refund on it and a get a seasonic or a corsair, it will save you money on the long run!
 
I do have the receipt of it... You really think I can return it? Can I just say that I am no satisfied with it or something.
