My HP laptop has a 1080p resolution display... but would i be able to play 4k videos on a UHD tv from my laptop using HDMI?

im trying to play 4k videos on my laptop while connecting it to a 4k TV using a HDMI cable, i havent bought a UHD TV yet because i want to be sure of this....

Yes if it has HDMI it will be more than likely able to output a 4K signal to a 4K TV. However, if it is an older laptop, then it likely has HDMI 1.4, meaning your FPS will be limited to 30 Hz. You should check to see if your laptop has HDMI 1.4 or newer HDMI 2.0 which can handle 4K 60 Hz.
