[SOLVED] My microphone works on my phone, but not my PC

I have a Razer Kraken headset which has an in-built microphone. I've tried using the microphone on my laptop but it does not work, yet it works fine on my phone. I have not muted it on the headset itself. A thing to note is that my laptop does not acknowledge that my headset is plugged in, even though audio goes through it. I have tried all the solutions I could find online but to no avail. The microphone has worked in the past even though the headset wasn't recognised, just there are times when the microphone stops working for no reason. Any help would be much appreciated.

Test the headset in another laptop and another headset in yours. It could simply be your laptop jack is a bit faulty and not making contact with the headset connector.
