So about two days ago my monitor when i started it it was about 1/3 normal looking and the other 2/3 was darker but still on. So i tried to fix it by restarting my computer and shutting it off and turning it on and that worked two days ago and yesterday but today it didn't work. So i am curios if my monitor is fixable or not.
Almost forgot the monitor is a Asus mg278q and i have had it for about three years
And it's not my PC doing it because if my PC is off and i start my monitor the problem still shows up.
Here are some pictures of the problem

It's the backlight. All monitors in the past decade or more use an led strip which has multiple leds along it. That monitor has a 3 year warranty so I would contact asus first. Even if the warranty expired they may fix it anyways.

If they won't, it is possibly fixable yourself. The issue will be finding the parts at a reasonable price. The cause could be from the control board, power board, cables or the backlight itself. It's not something that can be easily tested so you will not know without replacing parts.

The weird thing is that yesterday at night it looked normal after i hadn't used it so it had been in screen saver and for some reason it was fixed until i shut it down for the night and then today it was the same as before.
But yeah thank's for the respond i will contact asus support and see what they have to say about it.

It's not weird at all. It's a "normal" backlight issue. Turn it off/on a couple times and change brightness can fix it for the time being but it will only get worse over time as whatever is failing degrades more. You'll eventually get to a point, maybe tomorrow maybe a few years, that it won't work at all.
