My PNP doesn't detect correct display after installing new hard drive

My hard drive fried and I had to install a new one and reinstall windows vista and all its updates. Now my computer is detecting my monitor as an Acer 17" when in fact I have a Westinghouse 22"( Model LCM-22w3) and I can't set the screen resolution to 1680x1050 as it was before the reinstall. It will only allow me to set it at 1280x1024. Any suggestions as to what is causing or any remedies?
I tried to customize the setting but it said my display doesn't support that resolution(because, I guess, it is detecting the wrong monitor). This monitor is the only one I have ever had connected to this computer since I bought them both new.(Dell Inspiron 531 with AMD 64 AnthlonX2).

Generic driver installed by windows. D/L appropriate driver for your monitor.
