in EQ2 I made a character called Poodooo, it wasn't intended to be that word
at the begining but just a noise, a made up name.
after the talk about names etc. recently does anyone think that this name is
against the rules?
and if so how can I change it now I have made the Character? will a GM do it
for me?
Thanks
Ceri 😱) (I'm not really that worried, I also haven't played since just
before xmas, I've kinda got into one of those, log in, not sure what to do
for 30 mins log out again times.)

lol...I think they would change it if you asked.
It would have to be further down on the list with some of the names getting
around, but on the list all the same.

IMO that name's no more directly associated with an eliminatory
function--which is what I assume you're worried about--than is Winnie the
Pooh's. 🙂

I wouldn't worry about it.

You can have The Most Offensive Name In History(TM) and if you request
it be changed before it is 'caught', I believe the rules are that you
will not get in trouble.

It's not made up.

It is a derogatory word (or words, if spelled poo doo) that comes from the Star Wars
universe. An example is Jar Jar Binks' usage of the word in The Phantom Menace, to
describe Bantha droppings.

A pox on thee for bringing something related to SWG into our EverQuest group {grin}

I created a barb warrior named Titanus once intended to be a variation of
the word, "titan". I was in my late teens I believe when it occurred to me
that it could be read as "tight anus" or even a combination of the words
"tit" and "anus".

I petitioned and requested the change (with an explanation, of course) and
the GM basically thanked me for observing the policy and made the change,
no problem.

of course, if someone had turned you in, it would've taken a year and
forty more people to turn you in before they did anything, even if
your first name was tight and your last name was anus. Interesting how
that works, eh?

I'm thinking that you just need to get out more. Were you the model
for Jason in the comic strip "Foxtrot?"

I reported 'witepowr' in EQ2. The gm updated my ticket to let me
know appropriate action had been taken.

20 minutes later /who witepowr still showed them there.

Joy 😉

They're much better about it now than they were until they revamped
the petition system. I've had people that played literally for close
to a year with the same assinine, vulgar name that I know <I've>
complained about several times, and I know people that have done the
same, yet there the guy is, day in and day out, playing with name like
Brainphux or Ballme. Now it seems like you call, you get a response.
Part of it may also be that, since loosening the naming policy a
couple years back, that when people are in violation now, it's usually
pretty drastic.

One of my favorite name changes was in UO. Some PK working off his
redness and macroing some skill was in his house with a name like
AzZPhUkkEr, right next to the road. I called a GM, and for the next
three days the guy was in his house... when anyone ran by, the name
MyLittlePony was what they saw....

Sadly, it was originally Huttese for 'fodder'. At some point, it seems
Lucas noticed people were misinterpreting it and decided it was
funnier when scatological.

One of many reasons why I am not buying the SW dvds. But I digress.
