Hey guys, I just joined today and I am looking to get some advice for some upgrades I want to make on my computer.

This is what I'm currently using:
TA990FXE motherboard
AMD FX 4100 cpu
gtx 660 ti graphics card
8gb of ddr3 memory
and a 2tb hard drive(not solid state)

I realize that this is a low end set up and I eventually do want to have everything upgraded, but at this point I'm only looking to upgrade either the cpu or the graphics card. I am considering to either swap my cpu for an amd fx8350 or to upgrade my graphics card to the rx 470/480

My question is: Which upgrade will give me the better performance boost? I realize that the fx 4100 is not really a "gaming" processor and I know that the 660 ti is about 5-6 years old now. I am getting so much frame rate drop even when running at medium settings that I've really grown tired of it. Any help/suggestions will be appreciated!

Solution
If you upgrade your graphics card to a rx 480 then there is a possibility that your cpu might bottleneck your gpu. Upgrading your cpu wouldn't help much in graphically demanding games. And your pc doesn't look very bad in any way. So I recommend you to check for some problems like thermal throttling during gaming. Also check if your graphics card has entered into power saving mode. In case you really want to upgrade your pc then I recommend you to overclock your cpu and go for a gtx 950 or 960. Hope this helps.
