I have a duel pc stream setup, where I currently have my base game PC with its own specs, and a second cap PC that I stream from. Specs of the stream PC are.. well, im upgrading it. I have a GTX1060 6GB Turbo right now, but I want to downsize it to a mini/itx version of "X" video card. My 1060 sitting in a Thermaltake Core G3 case, so the fit is kinda snug right now (would be nice to get that extra space for wiring and airflow with a mini card). I will be hooking it up to a monitor and using the CPU for encoding.

Ive read a ton that I technically dont even need a dedicated GPU for a dedicated stream pc, but wanted to get everyone's opinions on if that is technically true, and if so, what card could I feasibly get away with while still maintaining a good picture/stable frames in display/watching mode.

  1. Do I really need something as beefy as another mini version of the 1060?
  2. What is the minimum spec mini-GPU you recommend I should be using?
  3. Power draw a factor here?

Thanks!

Solution
For just streaming, the CPU could be dedicated to handle the entire task (encode and stream your video feed) so even an integrated GPU (iGPU) will do.
A only streaming PC does not need to be powerful.
