Need AMD gaming build suggestions for around 900$

I was selecting my parts for a build, i was pretty much done. But then someone told me to try an AMD build instead, because its cheaper and it might allow me to get a better graphics card than i was choosing (that was the 5770) they suggested a 5850.

So if anyone has any AMD gaming build suggestions for around 900$ that would be great.

Total: $920.20 after mail in $895.20

No real saving with the CPU/MOBO/GPU combo except that it has double lifetimre warrenty and you dont have to deal with mail in rebates beyond that it is normal price since GPU is a little pricier than usual, but it works out to being normal price after combo. You can save a few bucks by looking at either its the CPU or MOBO and looking at combo deals with that and getting a case with that to save some money and than choosing a different brand video card and get the same exact performance and probably save $20 doing that if you want. But I personally like the looks of the Antec 300 so I went this route.

nah, that ram is bad, and the case is a bit lame, and it costs more than mine, although i think i left out the os, but it makes no point to squezze in all that but skimp on the other parts (psu, case, ram, no hsf...) lol :lol: i hate to be such a cocky jerk but my build beats both of these...

The RAM is bad? The case is lame? How about being a bit more constructive and EXPLAIN why instead of rambling like a 12 year old. There's nothing wrong with the RAM. The case isn't that bad. The case is subjective to taste. I don't have anything against the case I picked. If the OP wants a different case HE CAN PICK A DIFFERENT ONE. Oh, and btw, if you knew how to do math, you would see they cost less. Also, the CPU comes with as HSF genius.

wow the cpu comes with an hsf, hmm i guess you learn something everyday yea well what if the OP wants to oc a little, or doesnt want an obnoxiously loud or under-performing cooler, or wants his HSF to keep his cpu under 50C under load, then he might want the 212, and if he doesnt, well then theres 30$ off my build...and yeah the ram is bad, or not necessarily bad but not nearly as good...ocz beats a-data anyday, 7-7-7-20 beats 8-8-8-24 anyday, and 1.65 volts is the highest i would want it at, and the a-data can go up to 1.85 volts, vs the nice solid number of just 1.65 with the ocz. and the ram i choose costs less after mir. the case you choose isnt good, its not terrible, but i have a slight feeling the OP might want more than 1 fan, and a lil more gaming and high air flow features, although im not sure as the OP didnt really make its use clear. i dont quite see what your talking about with the math, 847<906, but you might be talking about something else...im really not trying to be hostile, but you really cant just explode on me like that...

Forgot to say, I do not need an OS or a disc drive.

So whats the best AMD CPU for gaming?
some things i usually do are.. Myspace/youtube/downloading files/gaming/Connect my PC to my 32 in LCD television to watch movies, and it doesnt look to great, cuz this pc has an onboard GPU and i use the VGA cable to connect my PC to my TV.


I'm not sure if i should go with a 5850 GPU or stick with something less powerful but will still fulfill my needs of playing many games at really high settings, maybe max on certain games, and Im not really sure which games, so i could just say, Crysis, GTA4, Need for speed, Diablo 3 (when it comes out) Guild wars 2 (when it comes out)
Unreal tournament 3, Borderlands, quake, Halo 2, Call of duty modern warfare 2.

Maybe that was a bit much, but i thought I'd include more than a few.
I think I'l be good with a 500GB HDD... i was lookin at the samsung spinpoint 500GB, it had good reviews and was in some combos i think.

You need to pull your head out of your butt. I go by what the OP SPECIFIES. He said nothing about overclocking and if the OP doesn't specify that they're going to overclock, I'm not going to assume they are. For someone who isn't overclocking, a stock HSF does supply sufficient cooling. You also bring up noise and keeping the temp under 50C. Again, those are things that are dependent on the builder's taste and preference, therefore I'm not going to make assumptions about whether or not the OP wants a super quiet cooler or cooler than average temperatures. RAM latency and voltage is a debatable topic, but higher voltage and timings alone are not enough to claim RAM is bad. I don't know where you got that. Oh ya, and add an operating system to that build and tell me it's less.

Your both right, i didnt specify i wanted to OC, and i also didnt say i WASNT going to OC.
I did hear that lower voltage of ram is better.

@LAG269, for games like that, and since i fit it in the budget, you should def go for the 5850. the difference between the 5850 and 5770 are really noticable. sorry about the argument, some people dont understand 847<906, and that my case, ram, psu, and hsf are all better.

You also haven't really proven that the RAM I picked is bad. Who cares that it can take more than 1.65V? Hell, my RAM can take up to 1.95V. Do I run it at that? No. Also, the first post of this thread didn't specify whether or not an OS was needed, so I'm going to assume that it is an entire build, thus an OS would be needed, Sherlock.

Also, you keep going on about the CPU cooler. Uuuuuuuuuh, if someone wants better than average of such and such, they better specify they want better than average of such and such. I'm not required to assume they do.

I noticed the ram says 1333, whats the difference between that and 1600?

And how much is this build in total?

because if its like 800 instead of 900 like my Intel i5 build is, and it performs the same, if not BETTER, i could throw in another 100$ to make it 900$ total, and get another 4GB of ram for a total of 8GB and max out that motherboard.
