[SOLVED] need help deciding if it's worth it.

I don't normally do prebuilts but when I do, I only do Asus and basically Asus prebuilts only "have had a few other never reliable". The main reason being is I only use the components, I do a full wipe and reinstall of os before I even start a full first boot on the machine. Update the bios and set the bios the way I like the boot and test the system.

However I was wandering if the build was good for starting level streamer he's 12 and already making a profit from it on a 13yr old machine I gave him 6yrs ago for things like 6th grade adventures "miss leading name I know, it's actually for 4-7yrs old windows XP.” but now he's playing games like fortknight, cs'go warzone and Forza the newest one plus things of these nature.

I wanna get him set up at like 1080p mid to high settings 144hz for his moderate title games

Edit update this machine isn't a permant build, it will be upgraded through the next 8months to get it to full speccs but to start the main thing that will be upgraded is the GPU to a 3080 the case may also go and ram may go a little higher in speed and lower in latency

Thank you for the reply, I showed him this and he said he loves it and he actually wants to build it. So I'm waiting for his final decision and if he shows me the money I will pay half for him, but I don't know he's a lot like me and changes things around "but again he's a lot like me so will probably only be the case the the best cpu the board will hold".

Here's a build that will run cool seeing how this cpu uses less power than the unlocked 'K' cpu's and the case has excellent airflow. You want to use Windows 11 for these new Alder Lake cpu's that have the big/little cores. That board has the Realtek 1200 audio codec which is nice if you play first person shooter games and there's less interference on the headset vs the older Realtek 897 audio codec.

It is a much better build for what you are paying for the prebuilt. Remember, prebuilds have to skimp on parts quality to make max profit which is not the case when you build your own. It does make some sense when it is a lot cheaper, which is not the case here. The parts in my above post are all top quality, and you can pretty much figure that out with a little bit of research yourself.
For your intended purpose going with a bigger CPU will be waste of money and resource, unless you plan to do something else in future.

Stay away from msi and gigabyte. BAd customer service and parts will break. Asus, evga = long lasting pc. As for prebuilt spend the money and get the biggest cpu u can. Prebuilds do not age like custom built pc's and u probably wont be able to put a 13700k in a prebuilt later on. If u were doing a system like a dell workstation they seem to age ok. look up jaystwocents on brands to trust in 2022

The PC doesn't need to have wifi I have a networking switch setup in his room that runs the Ethernet on his side of the house.

I'm just trying to help him get his room setup the way he wants it getting a jump on spring cleaning, and the mess of wires has to go, I started a partial remodel of his room running extra wires into the wall that needed to be done years ago and things like this

You can go with the non Wi-Fi version of the board but for 20 odd bucks extra, it not only serves as a viable backup for its lifetime, but more importantly the integrated Bluetooth module can be pretty handy when required. Ideally the integrated modules are a bit better than the aft versions and should be a good to have for your kind of budget.

Asus support isn't what it used to be. Asus makes solid boards no doubt, but you pay more for their boards and a lot of those boards offer less features vs MSI and Gigabyte boards.

Here's an example. That MSI B560 Bazooka goes for $130 vs that Asus Tuf Gaming B560M that goes for $150 - $160 and unlike in Europe, North America only gets the board that comes with WiFi where as the Euros get a choice to purchase the less expensive non WiFi version of that board.

Cheap and easy if you don't want the hassle of building it yourself. That way you still get a top quality system and for cheaper than what a prebuilt would cost you.

That actually makes a lot of sense I never thought about that I'm slowly starting to notice my age the further I'm falling out of touch with computers already it's sad. It doesn't help cancer is killing my memory as well, as much as I'm learning the new stuff I feel like I lose even more of my knowledge of the old stuff

A lot of peeps on here and elsewhere order the components and afterwards they take them down to the local PC shop and have them build it. Cheap and easy if you don't want the hassle of building it yourself. That way you still get a top quality system and for cheaper than what a prebuilt would cost you.
