Scythe has few options around $50. Mugen Max and Ashura are a hair too tall .. and deceiving cause published dimensions don't include fan

SCythe Mugen 4 ($48) works
Cryorig H7 ($35) is only 145 mm so fits with ease
Cryorig H5 ($47) is 160mm so it just fits
CM Hyper 612 ($38) is just 2 hairs too big
be quiet! SHADOW ROCK 2 ($43) again just fits
Phanteks PH-TC12DX ($50) is 155mm and gorgeous

I'd suggest the Phanteks, be Quiet or H5 but from a fit standpoint, the 5mm of headroom for the Phanteks as well as it's gorgeous aesthetics will ease any fit worries. Comes in white, black, red and blue but the last 2 are generally a significant cost premium...
The case fits "CPU coolers up to 160 mm in height"... so that leaves you able to take many options out there. just none of the big performers like the Cryorig R1, Phanteks PH-TC14PE or Noctua DH-15. The Noctua NH-D14 will fit, or should fit ... it's exactly 160mm

Because no CLC cooler has ever been able to deliver more cooling or less noise than an equivalently priced air cooler.

That does not answer the question he simply can not fit an air cooler that would works as well as a 240 CLC given his case.

https://www.amazon.com/OEM-240M-All-One-Radiator/dp/B013ZO82K2/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1481933937&sr=8-9&keywords=240+water+cooler

No, that was not the OPs question, he wants a cooler than can fit in his case; his case allows a 160mm tall cooler. On top of that, he specifically stated he wanted an air cooler 95% of which will fit w/o issue.

he simply can not fit an air cooler that would works as well as a 240 CLC given his case

There is no evidence of that being true. His case has very little limitation on what air coolers will fit. A 2 x 120mm CLC that would match the NH-D14 for example will fit a CLC would be much louder and more expensive.

$50 bucks yeah go with air... much louder? simply not true I have a 110gtx with 4 140 fans on it it's silent.

much louder? simply not true

Only for the hearing impaired.

No point in arguing, the numbers and ears speak for themselves:

Start at 17:12
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TivNOgQqW-M

H100i = 69 dbA
NH-D15 = 33 dbA

69-33 = 36 dba That is 10 times as loud.. Do the math.

Not to mention, the D15 keeps the CPU cooler.

http://www.sengpielaudio.com/calculator-levelchange.htm

or use the ears, at 55% CPU load, the PC is going in the other room.

H110 ... what's bigger 44 or 36 ? ... every 10 dba represents a loudness doubling

fan_noise50.gif

At 25%, it's the loudest unit in the test, at 50% is the 3rd loudest, at 100% it's the 5th loudest
