Hi, I am a week away from building my ultimate gaming rig !

Please help me decide which single unit graphics card should I opt for (price not a factor) which can keep me immersed in gaming for the next 2-3 years on games like BF4/COD Ghosts/Crysis 3 etc etc.

or should I look at a SLI/Crossfire option?

Note: I use a single Samsung 54 cms LCD Monitor which runs on 1920x1080 resolution.

This is the same as the last build with added Corsair Gaming Keyboard and mouse

from the graphs, what I understood is GTX 780ti is the fastest card out there (even faster than the more expensive TITAN) when used as a single GPU. However it will come good if it is used as a single card.. or the SLI used at a 2560x1440. that's when it trumps the Radeon series mostly.. but on higher resolution like 3840x2160, the R9 290X CF wins mostly.. correct me of I am wrong.. and what's UBER btw..

I think Uber is simply the name of the PC that has the CF 290x's in. The 780ti is better for gaming than the titan, however the titan is mainly a rendering GPU, which is why it's more expensive.

The 290x is a great card, and tbh I prefer it over a regular 780, but if you were going to get dual 290x's, I would suggest the r9 295x2 as it exhausts most it's heat directly out of the case via a 120mm radiator.

More graphs here http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/gtx_780_ti_sli_geforce_review,22.html

the R9 295x2 is a 1500$ card.. :-( although it's a dual chip GPU.. Titan Z is 3,000$.. Titan Z Black is about 2000/2100$.. I can get dual SLI classified 780tis for 1300/1350$.. on a price/performance level and without compromising nawt, the classified dual SLI gtx 780tis make much more sense.. what say guys ?!?

Go for Dual 780ti classified's for 4k. As i said, IF you were going for dual 290x's I'd say to consider the 295x2, but dual 780ti's will do you proud :)

Then again, maybe you should wait until the 800 series cards are released, as they may contain something more relevant to your needs

quote "Flipping the switch to enter "uber" mode raises the card's blower speed from 40% to 55% of its potential maximum. (Don't .... Radeon R9 290X CrossFire is a beast for gaming! I love it."."

when the 800 series launches, the prices will be sky high.. even if they come with some new tech which the normal eye can't distinguish, I will still look at the 780tis if I do wait around, with an added advantage of prices coming down. Plus, when a new series is launched, it's not the final product of the series.. classifieds get launched way after after looking at pros n cons and after much tweaking.. btw, 870 n 880 will still be Kepler whereas the lower ones 820,830,850 will be on Maxwell.

That's very true, but there's a lot we don't know about the 800 series, e.g. if an 890 card is released which is better than 2 780ti's for less money, then that would clearly be more viable

No, the 880 is supposed to be under 500 dollars while offering 780 ti performance, that's what makes it so appealing to ppl llanning to buy pcs this quarter, and wiyhin a week most manufacturers release their own, the classified did take a year roughly to be released but the superclocked version of evga will be out, so will the asus dcii and gigabyte will release one too within a week or 2

@ Legend
as u said, 880 would be 500$ and 780ti performance.. so a SLI on 880 is roughly 1000$ and that too, on a unproved new series.
after the launch of 800 series, prices may fall for 700.. so a classified 780ti SLI would cost about (2*600) = 1200$ roughly of not less and it's a tried and tested formula..

the following has been taken from NVidia's own website..
"While it was expected that Nvidia Corp. plans to launch two high-end graphics cards this October, the company apparently intends to release three new products aiming different market segments that month. The launch of three new products will help Nvidia to maximize its sales later this year.
Hermitage Akihabara web-site reports that Nvidia plans to introduce high-end GeForce GTX 870 and GeForce GTX 880 graphics cards based on the GM204 graphics processor in early October. In late October the company intends to release GeForce GTX 860 graphics adapter aiming mid-range market segment. It is likely that the solution will also be based on the GM204 graphics processing unit.
Keeping in mind that the GeForce GTX 860 will unlikely cost substantially more than $300/£200, it is logical to assume that the GM204 chip is not too expensive to manufacture.

What is unclear is what performance levels will be offered by the new GPUs. Theoretically, the GeForce GTX 880 should be faster than the GeForce GTX 780, however, that graphics card is based on the GK110 GPU, which is the world’s most complex graphics processor ever designed and which is probably more expensive to make than the GM204.
Nvidia’s GM204 graphics processing unit is based on the second-generation Maxwell architecture and is made using 28nm process technology."

I still say 780ti classifieds.. ;-)

@ CGurrell
880 will never double the performance of 780 being less costly as the company would be sitting with unsold 700 stocks.. it can only happen if 700 series prices are reduced to half or lesser than that.. either way it's worth the wait..

Note: I didn't say 880. I said 890
