Here's my system - xp2700, 2x 2700 dimm (768), 3 7200 hard drives, 3 cd/dvd drives, 5 pci card and an ati 9700pro agp, about 3 external usb devices requiring power.

I'm looking at either the antec tru480 or an enlight 420.

Would the enlight 420w be enough to power my system? Or should I stick with the antec 480? The enlight is about half the price and if that'll be enough to power my system that'd be great. I've had an enlight 250w for about 4 years and it's powered this identical system except with an ati 8500agp and an athlon 1.4tbird w/ 1gig sdram. However, if not the antec looks good.

I've used the enlight 360 watt single fan, and its works fine. It's quieter than the 420, if noise if a concern. The 420 watt doesn't have a manual fan adjustment. You might also look at the coolmax 500 watt for about $54 (newegg). It has a 3 speed fan adjustment. Enlight has good customer support. I was able to get through to a rep, and he told me that they take returns at the factory for warranty (rma's).

I've heard the enlight 420 is really quiet as it is though. I have a 250w enlight and the thing is pretty silent, I'm sure the 420 even with the extra fan isn't too bad.

That coolmax won't handle my system, it only has 15a on the 12v rail. I haven't heard anything good about coolmax, only good/great things about enlight. I think I'm gonna try the enlight out and if that doesn't hold return it and get the antec. Thanks though. Enlight does stress low noise and a fan controller on the box w/ dual ball bearing fan. Should be quiet as fcuk.

I don't know if you need it now or not, but OCZ will soon have three noew power supplies hitting the market. The 420 watt model carries 33a on the 12v line. The 520 carries 40a...

It is my opinion that this is the best PSU for the money. It is also the only one that I use.

That looks good and if the 420w isn't enough (probably is) then that 530w seems attractive... I don't like how the fan is on the back on not on bottom though. I'd take that fortron over the antec however if this enlight 420w doesn't work out. Thanks!
