I am desperately seeking help with a 32 gig limitation that windows can't seem to get past. My stats for my system are:
Abit BE6-II v1.0 HPT 366 controller chip
award bios version ID: UH dated: 09/05/2000
Windows 98 version 4.10.1998
Maxtor 80GB drive model 98196H8
Promise Ultra100 Controller

A quick rundown of my situation is that I thought my award bios needed an update to get past this barrier, so I reflash with the newest bios available for my motherboard and it still doesn't work.

This was when several people suggested the promise ultra100 card, which I installed perfectly, and everything is in working condition but I still can't get windows 98 to format past 32gigs.

My final conclusion is that there is a 32 gig limitation on windows 98? Do I need the 2nd edition? Do I need to upgrade to windows ME to get past the 32 gig limitation?

Any input or help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

This is my idiot mistake of the month, was jumper 46 on my maxtor drive which is the cylinder limitation jumper. This jumper should only be enabled when using the maxblast software.

Sorry for troubles, I hope anyone that hits a 32gig barrier to check the jumpers 1st. Which is what I should have done in the 1st place.
