[SOLVED] Need help with a Power Supply for Mid-Range Gaming

Hello all,

Tomorrow I will be going to my local (45 minutes away) CanadaComputers to finish my starter gaming rig. I will be using this rig to play competitive games like R6, League and CSGO. I'm also gonna dive into games like Just Cause 3/4, Forza Horizon and No Man's Sky. In the build listed below, I have bought the MOBO and GPU. I need help on choosing a PSU based on the wattage required below.

My Options:

bequiet! U9 - 550W - Out of Stock but possibly will be in stock tommorow

Cooler Master MWE 500W 80 PlusBronze Power Supply (MPX-5001-ACAAB-U1)

EVGA 650 N1 650W Power Supply 2 Year Warranty (100-N1-0650-L1)

Corsair CX Series CX450 450W ATX 80 PLUS Bronze Certified Power Supply

Notes -
The 570 says that it requires a minimum of 450w.

I won't be overclocking, I just want a PSU with decent power usage and one that won't blow up.

If you have any other suggestions please say so.

You don't want anything less than a 500w unit, and a 550w unit would be a much better option for a variety of reasons not least of which is the fact that the majority of 500w units are older platforms, while the majority of newer, better platforms, will tend to be in "50" increments such as 450w, 550w, 650w, etc., until you get up into the >850w units.

If you had a lower powered card I'd recommend the CX450, but in this case, I think the Be Quiet System power U9 500w (There IS no 550w that I am aware of) is probably the better choice.

Review of that unit says it is decent for a budget model.

It's not great, but none of those units are great. The CX550w would be a much better option if you could get a hold of one.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention, I'm gonna hope that the U9 will be in stock tomorrow, but if it isn't, is there a PSU you recommend instead? around 70-90 CAD budget range.

It's rough right now, as I'm sure you know. Problem is, power supplies are made in China. China shut down for 3 months. People everywhere that ISN'T China, AND in China, got put on lockdown so they upgraded and built new systems and bought up everything that was already available. Now, there is little, and what there IS, is expensive, because there is high demand but low supply.

So, honestly, if you can get anything halfway decent for less than 150 bucks, you're doing pretty good.

I don't see anything else that's really recommendable from Canada computers, or under CA 100.00.
