Hey, i want to upgrade my cpu. first of all here are my specs:
CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) X4 860K Quad Core Processor 3,70Ghz RAM: 8,00 GB DDR 3 1600MHz GPU: Asus Strix AMD R7 370 2GB PSU: 500W MB: ASUS A88XM-A

may seem pretty weak, but surprisingly my GPU can put out lot of power, im aware that i will need new mobo with new cpu since AM2 socket is useless. so i wanted to know what cpu and mobo i should go for, something i can connect all my things i have now to, and if possible something with upgrade potential, maybe switching to DDR4 RAMs later on.
If any more info is needed please let me know

Any MicroATX B350 or B450 motherboard that suits your fancy really. Some are better than others but it depends what you want to spend. Better audio, special features like RGB, etc. I like the big brands like ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI for motherboards.

This one looks decent. I like that they bothered with heatsinks since overclocking is a possibility on these boards. https://de.pcpartpicker.com/product/dWL7YJ/asrock-ab350m-pro4-micro-atx-am4-motherboard-ab350m-pro4

(I usually default to Germany when people mention Euros, but if you are in a different country you can look at pricing there)

R3-2200G is a little cheaper than the R5-2400G and it would be better to compare the R5-2400G to the R5-1400 which has the same core count and threads...

FM2 socket is what you have now, AM2 is much older (Think DDR2)

You pretty much have to switch to DDR4 if you are looking at something new. Intel switched to DDR4 four generations ago, AMD two generations ago.

If you really want to keep your DDR3 then the best upgrade would be a 4th generation Intel system. Haswell or Devil's Canyon, i5 or i7. (i5-4430,i5-4440, i5-4460,i5-4670k, i5-4690k, i7-4770, i7-4771, i7-4790, i7-4770k, i7-4790k)

AMD's FX platform on the AM3 and AM3+ sockets weren't very competitive at the time and are really showing their age now, basically the same technology you have in that Athlon (FM2 Athlons are arguably better actually)

Recommendation from me would be to look at AMD's AM4 Ryzen 2000 series chips. R3-2200g, while it does come with graphics, is still the cheapest entry level quad core from them at the moment. If you can afford an R5-2600 it is about the best value at the moment.

R5 2600 is really above my budget, i would be willing to pay around 150€ for new CPU(taking into account i will have to buy that new mobo and RAMs) but i was thinking while for example r5 2400g is 155€ at my local store the r5 1600x is 152€ and r5 1600x is more powerful, it only doesnt have that iGPU and i have my old GPU so that wouldnt be problem.
what mobo would you recommend to that r51600x for example?

But if you want the hex core with SMT the 1600X is a good choice. Doesn't come with a cooler I believe though, so keep that cost in mind. The non-X CPUs do come with coolers, so the R5-2600 while being more expensive comes with a necessary component. Unless you already have a compatible cooler, than disregard.
