Need some advice on repairing a computer

I have recently come into possession of an older pc (2009~2010) and was hoping to breath some life back into the machine by adding some newer parts. I am currently unsure of what parts should be replaced and which should be left alone, mainly because I am unable to look at the system stats due to a mother board error. Every time I try to boot up the pc the motherboard gives me a six beep error code (which I believe means the keyboard controller or an expansion port has failed). So far, the only part I could identify was the cpu, which I believe is an Intel i7-860. Any advice would be appreciated!

What make of MB is it? I would go ahead and start with a new MB. Go with an Asus or Gigabyte and use what you have to boot then look at the specs of everything else and make replacement decisions based on cost/perfromance.
