I bought a 7600Gt agp awhile back it works well with oblivion and F.E.A.R and COD2 but its not happy with STALKER there is some pretty serious optimisation problems with that sucker.

to be honest havent recorded FPS with the others they are more then playable at 4AA 1024X768

Best Cards For The Money

It's updated every month. The 1950PRO or 1950XT (just released) would probably be best for those games but is a smidge over your limit and you may also need to upgrade your power supply. Otherwise 1650XT or 7600GT are next best.

The best bang for the buck in AGP is probably a used X800 XL on ebay for under $100. Almost as fast as a 7600 GT.

New, your best bet is an X1650 XT or 7600 GT, probably.

Yea i was running a x800xl from ebay but buyer beware if its used mine was and went bang after 8 months fair for the price if you can look at it that way.
Good picture and fps in most games inc oblivion but it doesent run hdr or shader 3. still as we say best bang for the buck
If you must have the eye candy its probably got to be one of the x1900 range

2. 7600GT
i dont know which card to buy...can any one help me...???
i have read that both these cards are power hungry...
i have a 400W PSU , will this be sufficient or do i need to upgrade my PSU...

If you don't mind a mail in rebate, this card is a great bargain at $120.

I paid alot more a couple months ago fo mine. It's performance is about like a X850XT, X800XTpe, 7600GT, 7800GS, 6800U, but you get better features and a nice quiet ice Q cooler. Best bargain in AGP right now IMO. Just make sure you have adequate power for it. On the box, they recommend a 450W PSU with 30 amps on the 12v rail in a loaded system. Mine is stable with an Antec 380W true Power with just a single 24 amp 12v rail. But it's a mobile athlon xp, 1GB ram, 1 optical, one HDD system. Add a couple drives or change to a more power hungry CPU and it might be too much for that lil' PSU.

Didn't see your last post when I replied. The 7600GT is better than the 6800GT. Unless there is a big price difference, the 7600GT is better. It's also not bad on power demands compared to the X1650XT or 6800's. 400W PSU is not enough info. What brand? Look at the sticker on it and see what the spec is for the 12v rail? A decent 400W PSU should powr a 7600GT, a cheap generic should be replaced. Compare a Fortron Source and Powmax 400W...huge difference.
