Question NETGEAR Nighthawk DOCSIS 3.1 Mid/high-Split Cable Modem (CM3000)

Hello everyone,

Recently I have been noticing a slowdown in my internet speed. When I reached out to XFinity, they said my modem and router were out-dated. I have the Netgear CM1000 modem and the Netgear AC3200 router. I upgraded to 1gig speed package with Xfinity and I am only getting 290/300 download speed.

After doing some research, I saw the Netgear CM3000 modem was good for Xfinity. So my question is, will this modem get me the speed I am paying for or do I also need to upgrade my router and if so, any recommendations?

Xfinity service is certified up to 800Mbps

Call Xfinity and see what they say.

Besides, make sure you test the internet speed with ethernet. WiFi test result doesn't count.

My speed test for Ethernet and WiFi are almost the same with 290/300.

When I spoke to Xfinity, they said my modem and router were out-dated. Could this be true?

The spec sheets for both modems say "32 downstream and 8 upstream SC-QAM channels 2 OFDMA Downstream channels and 2 OFDMA Upstream channels" so changing modems won't really do anything.

Check if you have any special setting like QoS being turned on in your router.

Best way is reset the router to factory default and start over.
