Question Network connection using USB and Type C ?

I want to share files between my laptop and Desktop.
The problem is laptop does not have ethernet port.
And I know there are some converters in market as a solution,
But they are all overpriced in India.
My desktop also has type C and Usb ports.
I am able to connect both of them with usb and type C cable.
But not sure whether I am just wasting my time.
Any help how to do it using usb and type C.
I do have wireless network, But its too slow for large file sharing.

32gb only. I always used flash drive in past. But it takes too much time. I need to around 150gb of data and need to managed it properly too. Flash drive isn't a good option every time.
