Ok, I recently did a Win7 -> Win10 upgrade. There were some issues, as the install didn't complete, causing all sorts of chaos.
I seem to have most of it resolved. Did a restore, downloaded the most recent Windows update and installed, and more to get it mostly functioning again.
One strange problem persists. The computer is on a domain, and the network is called business.local. But, on this PC, it shows just as "Ethernet Connected". I can access the internet and go to sites, but every time I do, it says "your connection is not private". Chrome outright blocks me from most sites. On Edge, I can usually select to go to the site anyway. I can't run Windows Update (can't reach update service), and lots of other small issues.
I've tried updating the network adapter driver.
I've tried uninstalling it and restarting Windows.
I've tried changing DNS setting to 8.8.8.8.
I've tried taking it off the domain and putting it back on (and testing in between)
I've tried removing the one Windows Update that had been applied.
I tried a USB Ethernet adapter, in case something was bad with the internal card.
I totally took down the firewall.
Then, I ran the incoming connections troubleshooter and it says "More than one device is performing network address translation". But, all googling I do, the issue seems to come from using a second router or something in a private network. Since this one is on a domain, we only have one router doing NAT, so I have no idea why it's coming up with this (and every other PC on our network doesn't have this issue either).
Nothing seems to work. Network sometimes shows as "Unidentified" and sometimes as Ethernet Connected.
Any suggestions? I'd really appreciate some new eyes on this.
