My problem may be a software problem but it may be
hardware related.

Last night I had a very big problem with my PC...being
that, I dropped it.

It's taken me most of the day to get my PC back up and
running. Everything is now working fine except my floppy
drive aint being picked up by windows even though i can
hear it reading the disks that i put in, this doesnt
really bother me as i very rarley use Floppy disks.

The other thing it isnt picking up is my NIC. not the
card itself seems to be working fine, the lights are
flashing showing connectivity however i have totaly lost
my connection to the network. When i 6try to re-add it to
the network i click on the 'home and small office
network' and the wizard fails to open. I am a little lost
on what I can do.

the other thing which is confusing me greatly is that it
is still alowing windows to update, which seems odd if it
cant pick up the network or any internet activity.

If Windows is updating [and downloading files and installing them], then
there is nothing worng with your network connectivity. You Have internet and
network access.

You will need to checkthe settings for Internet Explorer: it should be set
to use LAN. Check also the LAN settings.

As for the FDD, try plugging in the interface cables correctly: sometimes
they can be dislodged if one puts ones big hairy hands inside the system.
