It does mean you will not gain much fps above it and yes you can hurt your fps a bit under some circumstances i guess i should of been a bit more clear. But it still remains that 8 gigs seems to be the sweet spot with regards to gaming and ram at the moment. Although that could change in a few years time as ram is a lot cheaper now with the ddr3 then it was with ddr2.
 

First: It would be down the road as a future upgrade.
Second: It would be maybe second hand because I have a friend which has that six core.

Haven't you forgotten I wanna do 3D and Video Editing.
And is dual channel RAM better for gaming or quad channel is as good?
 
8GBs is actually ALREADY future proof. 😀
16GBs for editing, programming, or whatever.
3D for a 7th grader. Wow. 16Gbs will do.
Dual channel/quad channel, any will do.
 

There isnt.. In another post (The case one) there is.. But here no! LOL!
