Question New Build, Fans Running, RGB working, no mouse, no keyboard, no display

Hello everyone!

I just helped my partner build their very first computer over a video call (we live an ocean apart), and I watched him build the computer rather well for his very first time. He was anxious about how much pressure to use when seating the ram, and the 24pin connector, but that was about it.

Now the issue is that there's no display output, no activity on the mouse and keyboard, and no beeps from the motherboard at all, despite the case fans, cpu fan, and gpu fans spinning up just fine, along with what little RGB the case has.

This here is the setup!

CPU Ryzen 5500 (boxed)
Motherboard Biostar B550MH v6.1
RAM 32GB (hiksemi armor, 16GB, 3200Mhz)
Storage Adata Legend 850 1TB
GPU RTX 4060 INNO3D
PSU Cooler Master G600

(Case Superframe Overtake)

Now, we have tried reseating the RAM, since my partner was a bit sheepish with their first time inserting them, but once again got two nice clicks, and tried running the system with just one stick of memory. We also re-connected the 24PIN to the motherboard, along with the CPU power cable, and the PCI cable going into the GPU to make sure all of the power cables were seated correctly. We tried booting the computer without using any peripherals. We've tried using different cables to connect to the motherboard, tried using different USB ports for the mouse and keyboard, but nothing worked. All the fans turn on, but even after 1-2 minutes of waiting, we get no display output, or power to the mouse and keyboard.

After this, we tried jumping the two pins to reset the bios, and shorted them for about 12 seconds or so, booted the system, and nothing. After that, we tried removing the CMOS battery, drained the power by holding down the power button for an entire 90 seconds, placed the CMOS battery back, (along with the GPU because it covered the CMOS, had to remove it to get at it), booted the system, and still nothing.

We also tried removing the reset header from the front panel IO, reseating the rest of them, making sure the positives and negatives were connected properly, and tried booting the system without the reset switch plugged in (saw a video were someone's reset cable was faulty, and wouldn't give them display, or output to their peripherals either), tried booting the system, and after 1-2 minutes still nothing.

The entire time we heard no beeps from the motherboard at all, and it sadly doesn't have any indicator lights as far as we are aware. We're assuming the motherboard was just DOA, as all the parts were bought brand new, and delivered days ago. However, the motherboard was shipped separately from all the other parts, and wasn't packaged in a larger outer box, it was just shipped as is, in it's own packaging and nothing more. We didn't see any dents on the packaging though.

Technically I suppose it could also be the CPU, but seeing how we haven't heard any beeps whatsoever, and the CPU tends to be rather robust (no bent pins at all, it fell in smooth during installation, and we clipped the little lever back down nicely as well), so I'm not sure the CPU is faulty, and reckon that it most likely is the motherboard itself.

Since it's the weekend, we have to wait until Monday to contact the store, and ask for support, and see how we can go about getting it replaced. At this point I felt rather stupid I didn't just spend a bit more money on a higher end board with better onboard debugging, but I thought I'd ask for help, and see if anyone here might know of anything else we can try to get the system to boot.

Also, it does need to be noted that my partner watched PC build guides non-stop for about 3-4 weeks, before he actually built the computer, and during the build, I myself could only assist over a video call, so I don't have as full of a grasp on the build as I could have in person, as I myself do have more experience building computers from time to time. However, I did watch them build the whole computer, and as far as I'm aware, they did a very nice job putting everything together, and all the cables seemed to indeed be seated correctly.

If any of you have any ideas on what we could perhaps try to get the system to output a signal, or if anyone could help us confirm that the motherboard might indeed be dead, or whichever other component might be at fault, it would be greatly appreciated!

I haven't' heard of them until today.

The entire time we heard no beeps from the motherboard at all,
You mentioned not being able to hear any beeps from the motherboard, my question did you hook up the POST speaker to the board? The board doesn't come with one soldered onto the PCB. It's good practice to breadboard the system and then test them before putting them into the case. Perhaps try that now and if it works, it's possible that the case might be causing a short or one of your connectors weren't fully seated.

I don't have as full of a grasp on the build as I could have in person
We are limited with what we can do with text but videos and images of the build can help.

I feel like such an idiot now, but I had assumed the speaker was integrated in the motherboard itself, as it did not come included with the motherboard... My partner is going to purchase one today at a local shop, so hopefully we'll be able to sort out the issue!

We've acquired a beeper, and this is the result! I've heard different people say different things, saying it's either the system memory or the GPU. I'll be looking into things myself after work, but if you or anyone else has any ideas, I'd greatly appreciate the help!

worth a shot to put another ram
the video make it clear that is a ram problem
2/3 bips is a ram or motherboard problem

Does the CPU fan spin at all on power up?

The ATX CPU power connected to top left of motherboard?
You can see the CPU fan spin up in the video I posted above! The power cable is also connected properly. We just hooked up the beeper and are getting three long beeps, with pauses. The documentation is a little weird in the motherboard manual, but it's most likely the ram? Its either some oxidation on the pins that's causing it not to get recognised properly, or it's just DOA. We're going to try cleaning the pins along with the slot on the motherboard tonight, as well as test a set of ram we know that's working!

So it turns out the ram had some minor oxidation on it, which we cleaned up using an eraser! We also cleaned the interior of the sockets using a brush and a pipet to blow some air through it, and immediately afterwards the system posted!

Thanks a bunch for the help and suggestion guys! We're hecking celebrating over here! 🥳✨
