Hello all !

It time to upgrade my existing desktop. The prior build is about 6 years old and showing its age.
So here is what I picked out for the upgrade. The computer would be used for gaming and some work -_-
My gaming is mainly at 1080. I am not sure my Asus 34” curved monitor would support 4k.

Please look at the build and give me your suggestions. Thank you in advance.

-Not sure if the Corsair H100i V2 CPU cooler can be used on the new build, so I did pick out a new cooler.
-I have had good luck with Asus, Corsair, Gskill, but open to your input.

My budget is around $2500 USA.

Preferred site: Newegg.com

Overclocking: never done it, but may do it with this build

Another question...

1. I was able to change the order to an i7-13700K. I otherwise kept the other components (Z790 Mobo, 4070Ti GPU, etc.)
Looking at CPU spec sheet, it supports DDR5 up to 5600, my memory that I ordered was DDR5 6000.

G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000 (PC5 48000) Desktop Memory Model

So is this going to be an issue ?

THX again all.

Well it isn't guaranteed whether it will run at 6000MT/s but it if not you can just run it at 5600MT/s

Okay,

Whew ! Everything is in the mail from NewEgg.
I was able to make a last minute change to the i7-13700k CPU.

i7-13700k; 4070ti, DDR5 32 mb, 500 mb/2 TB SSD’s, Z790 mobo, CPU water cooler.

Again thanks to all who helped out. The guidance and help was very much appreciated.

I would think this thread, can be switched to “solved”

I will post pictures once 🥵I get it up and running.

So say we all

OK; good job,

Good that you got the K model with integrated video. Make sure you can figger out how to go back and forth from integrated video to video card. May require some fiddling in BIOS?

Maybe update your BIOS? Maybe not?

Got a backup plan idea?

Final update, to close the loop !!!

I did get everything installed, and the computer up and running. :D

The physical component installation was fun and went relatively smoothly except, the GPU almost did not fit in my full tower LianLi case 😲. I was sweating it a bit, but I was able to do a little JerryRig case mod to get the GPU installed. The software installation was, however, the hardest of all the computer upgrades/builds that I have done.
The initial startup of the rig, yielded no graphic output to the monitor. I then had to flash the MOBO bios and install a LAN driver, to be able to install Windows 11. For some reason, the second 2 TB SSD would not be seen by WIndows. With some time and effort, I finally got Windows to see the SSD (at this point not sure exactly what I did to solve it).
Lastly, I then had pull out some hairs to get the audio card working.

The final build was:
CPU: i7-13700K
GPU: Asus 4070ti
Memory: GSkill Trident Z5 RGB DDR5 6000 32 GB
Mobo: Asus Z790-A Prime
Cooler: Corsair iCUE H100 Elite LCD
Storage: Samsung 980 Pro M2 500 GB boot and 2 TB Data

I was able to use existing components including my LianLi Full tower case, Corsair 1000W PSU, Sound Blaster X5

Picture of the build, if I did link right....

I was then able to use the "old" components to build my wife a desktop work computer. I did have to order a new case, the ancient Cosmos S case, front top control unit went south :(

Again, thanks to all who contributed. Why Me, LaFong, etc, you are awesome !
I really appreciate the guidance and help.
