New Build i7, can't explain this lag, please help

I'll do my best to describe this. Let me start with my specs

Asus p8z68 v pro
2 580's running in SLI
i7-2600k Sandy Bridge CPU
The OS in Win7 running on two Crucial SSD's in Raid 0, and I've got 2 1TB WD in Raid 1.
16gb Corsair vengeance
And a 27in Led Viewsonic Monitor

So hear bear with me.

So far in web browsing triggers it, and perhaps once in a game but further testing to come on that.

After about 15-20mins, it will freeze, move the mouse around, cntrl alt delete, sometimes get a task manager, some times don't but then...

it slowly starts to regain consciousness, the mouse point will start to change depending on location, versus freezing like a size pointer or what ever it got stuck at.

Then the task bar will open, slowly, internet starts to work again slowly, then a couple minutes pass, and BOOM

Back to normal.

Thanks for reading this and trying to help I truly appreciate it.


P.S. I don't have much to go on, besides I think it might be my Monitor vs Win7, and how win7 doesn't use manufacturers drivers and prefers to use their own. Hence why my monitors image sizing options are greyed out. Or hey that could be a totally separate issue.

P.S.S. Can you recommend any good testing programs, besides prime95 that might help?

I think it is a mistake to have the two ssd's in raid-0.
That will negate the ability of the ssd to use the "trim" command to free up nand chips when they are deleted.
As it is, once all of the nand chips have been used, there can be delays while the ssd tries to free up space for new writes.

I think it would be better to put the OS and some apps on one, and use some of the other as a cache for the hard drives.


The latest intel drivers will pass on the trim command to the non raid participants.

Nvidia provides the drivers for your grapnics cards, and they , in turn drive the monitor/s.
Do get the latest drivers, from Nvidia and possibly look into a beta driver if the fixes seem applicable.

All drivers are up to date, and I did some research regarding the SSD's in Raid 0 and they have Trim working now in Win7.

However...

I've got it narrowed down, to it only occurring on a "wake" situation. I've been working on it straight for 3-4hours no slow or lag. So I changed the power saving settings and I'll see if that fixes it.

I was hoping that I was wrong, but trim support with 9.6 drivers does not apply to a raid-0 array of two ssd's.

Trim can be passed to a pass thru ssd that happens to be on a raid controller with some other devices in raid mode.

These discussions were in march, about the 9.6 drivers, so the situation may have been changed.
