New Build Questions

OK so I am building a budget PC that will run fairly well and perform at its best. My budget as of now is under $500. I have most of the components picked out and I have a few questions. I am going AMD for this build, but I have little to no experience with their line of processors. This is not a gaming rig so I got a simple GFX card for movies and simple things.

Looks pretty good. Only suggestion would be spend the extra $10 for this Windows Vista so you get Win 7 free upgrade when it's released.

And if you're not overclocking, then the stock fan will be fine, if you are, get an aftermarket cooler.

Not sure if you have a combo for the DDR2-800, but for $3 and still have free shipping, heres Gskill 1066. The link has an antec 430w earthwatts combo with it that ends up being cheaper than what you have seperate. And for a single 4350, 430w is more than enough.

Lots of combo options for your parts. Make sure you're checking those.

I'm assuming you're planning to go with AMD because they are generally cost-effective, but at this level an Intel system would be about the same price. For $5 more, you could get an E5200 and this P43 motherboard

This combination would surely outclass your current configuration before and after overclocking.

However, if you really are only watching movies and not doing things like editing videos or photos, I'd recommend this AMD CPU because it's cheaper and it runs at only 45 watts which is quite a bit less power hungry than the 7750x2's 95 watts

In the interim download and use the release candidate?

You could do a clean install of vista with a two step procedure.
