Hi all, I'm a first time PC builder so please go easy on me. I have finished my first build, and am not getting anything to display, and am wondering if it is even booting correctly. Additionally, my mobo has EZ debug lights, and when powering on, all lights accept cpu flash on for about half a second, then off. The CPU light then turns on for about 7-10 seconds, before turning off (hence why I felt the need to post this in the CPU thread). So far, I have tried clearing cmos both with the button, and via cmos jumper (with screwdriver). I have made sure my monitor is on the correct channel, and that my cables are working (no luck with either HDMI or display). I have tried reseating the cpu, and the RAM, and the same debug lights come on regardless of whether I have one, or two sticks of RAM inserted. I have tried using both the HDMI ports on both the graphics card, and the mobo (my mobo has integrated graphics). I have not yet tried to replace the cmos battery, because I do not have any spares, I am not sure if it will help, and am afraid of damaging my mobo. Today I have tried breadboarding with 1 stick of ram, and I am still not getting any display, and the debug lights light up in the same way. I currently do not have any parts that I can test this with, since I've currently spent a good sum on the parts I already have. I could afford more, but would like to know if it's absolutely necessary before going and spending another few hundred dollars. My specs are as follows:
Mobo: MSI X470 GAMING PLUS MAX
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X
CPU Cooler: Wraith Prism RGB (stock)
Graphics Card: MSI GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER
PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 ARGB 850 W (Gold)
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 32 GB (2 x 16 GB)
Storage Devices (both SATA):
Additional: Wi-Fi 6 PCIe Card: WIRELESS-AX916C
One other thing to mention is that upon first power on, the cpu fan would not turn on, even when connecting it to other fan headers on the mobo. Only plugging it directly into the PSU seems to get it to work. In my mind, this could mean either the fan is not compatible with the mobo, or every one of the headers I tried are not working (which doesn't seem likely to me, but who knows). Furthermore, I've read that some mobos will not boot if a fan is not detected to save the CPU from frying, but I could not find anywhere (even in the manual) if this safeguard is in place for my mobo. That being said, could that be my issue, seeing as the fan is directly plugged into the PSU? Or could it maybe be something else I am not seeing? I really don't know what to think, and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
