Hello

A friend needs a new build and she has budget of 2000 Euro but can go higher if required for better longivity. Located in Netherlands.

Will be used mostly for Gaming , has Windows and Storage , For 1440p Gaming. AMD or Intel is fine , whichever is more future-proof for what its worth.

Thank you

For gaming, AMD offers better price to performance. How much importance does your friend put in Raytracing? Because Nvidia is a generation ahead of AMD in Raytracing, but their graphic cards cost more. I've got an AMD build which is good for 1440p gaming, possibly 4K, and I assume it's around your budget when put into Euros, I'll list my components as a starting point.

CPU, Ryzen 5 7600x
CPU cooler, AIO 240mm (Cooler master)
Motherboard, B650 (Gigabyte B650m gaming x ax)
RAM, 2x16GB DDR5 6,000MHz CL30 EXPO (G.Skill Flare X5)
GPU, RX 7900xt (Sapphire pulse)
PSU, 1,000w (an OK brand, should probably get better)
Storage 1TB NVME plus a couple of older SSDs I had.
Case, Mini ATX sized from Cooler master...as my board is mATX, has 3 included fans.
OS, Windows 11

This build works well for me, the CPU is probably the weakest component, but at the moment it's fine for gaming. As the motherboard will take future generation AMD CPUs for the next few years, I'll upgrade it some time in the future. If your friend's budget could stretch enough for a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, then it's currently the best gaming CPU you can get.

The 120mm fan goes inside the back of that case for a rear exhaust fan.

for future proofing steer clear of Intel LGA1700 now its a waste ..

I cant recommend anything Nvidia gpu wise unless your going big with the monster 4090 the 16gb 7800xt 20 gb 7900xt or the 24gb 7900xtx is going to give you the better future proofing even at the cost of DLSS and the hit and miss RT bonuses !!

Until we know the final specs of the 4080ti im not sure if its worth it either ..

Now if the 4080ti comes with 20gb of Vram and " LMFAO priced reasonably" it could be a great future proof GPU..

Isn't 4080 already pretty expensive? around the price of a 7900 XTX or above?

Thats why the LMFAO ..

and yes the 4080 in general is more expensive than the 7900xtx

BUT
ive seen some speculation and with a HUGE grain of salt speculation that it could be priced at the same release price as the 4080 was !!

So if you go back in time and think which was the better buy the 4080 or the 7900xtx ( RT excluded ) the 7900xtx was the better cheaper buy when it trades blows with the 4080 ,,

But if the 4080ti sits firmly between the 4080 and 4090 beating the 7900xtx by a decent amount at the OG 4080 price its starts to make alot of sense to buy a 4080ti !!

even if the 50 series is slated for a 2025 release !!
