New Build, Unsure about Mobo

So, it's time to update my 3 year old rig and really want something that's going to Run Rift with the zone wide events, as well as upcoming games like ToR, Skyrim, Witcher etc etc etc.

I've already gone over the budget I wanted to spend but I have this real problem with making sure I get the most out of my money, even it means increasing each piece by a couple dollars(which always increases the overall price.)

I'm kind of set on what I want except for the Mobo, unless some crazy deal comes along.

Intel Core i5-2500K
EVGA GeForce GTX 470 SuperClocked 1280MB
CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB
Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb
CORSAIR CAFA70 Cooler

I'll be bring over my Corsair HX62 PSU from my Old system as well as an older 3.0 gb and 1.5gb HDDs. Will use the new 6.0 drive for windows and most used programs.

The motherboards I'm looking at are

Asus Sabertooth
Asus P867 Deluxe
Asrock P67 Extreme6

I'm not a huge OCer but will do enough that I want a Mobo that can handle it. I also don't plan on SLI right away but would like something capable for an easier upgrade so the system can keep up for a little while.

I know these Mobos all can handle it, does anyone have experience with all three or have any recommendations in general about all of the components? Any input would be much appreciated. This is around the $900 mark, it's a little above my budget but I should be able to handle it.

PSU - If you meant CMPSU-620HX PSU and you OC both CPU/GPU you're squeaking by okay.

I googled the scythe but couldn't find any reviews(because I didn't realize it was useing a different name on sites >.>) which is why I didn't even look at it. Umm...Like I was saying Im already over my budget so adding another $35 for the ram just seems to hurt where I'm at. I checked reviews on the vengence and they seemed to do awesome.

As for the PSU and OCing the GPU I'll probably leave it stock or factory OCed, honestly I've never OCed gpu so wouldn't even know where to start.
I've been useing this PSU calculator and it seems to think I'd be just fine on power.

I realize it's just a calculator but it's reccomending a 510w PSU. if I were to ever SLI then I'd be in trouble.

HSF {+$16} for 6~10C Scythe Mugen 2 rev.B A/K/A SCMG-2100 VS 'CORSAIR CAFA70 Cooler'

RAM Vengeance ; I'm a huge Dominator fanboy, and my issues with the Vengeance are 2 fold: 1. The RAM's heatsinks are often a problem for many HSF, 2. There have been some problems with users reporting back. As I said I am a Corsair fan, but I won't lie either. When Vengeance work they're fine.

PSU The calculators, many of them, don't take into account 'electrolytic capacitor aging' or simply said the older it gets the less wattage/AMP it produces. Next, if your calculation is 510W then running a system load @ 100% will burn-out the e.g. 550W PSU in a year or less with a very noisy PSU complaining/reminding you all the way. http://www.corsair.com/learn_n_explore/ {Power Supply Finder tab}

For example, if the Requirement is 510W then taking into account capacitor aging; 510 X 1.30 = 663W or higher.
"recommend you add 20% if you plan to keep your PSU for more than 1 year, or 25-30% for 24/7 usage and 1+ years."

My budget is basically as stretched as far as it can go. haven't settled on anything just yet.

So the Power Tab is recommendering 650W psu, what you're saying is it's assuming it's brand new and not three years old like the one I'm currently useing.

Obviously this is without a Mobo selection which I don't want to be skimpy on and apparently a new PSU which will run me about $90-110
Plus a Cooler somewhere in the $40 range.

As far as budget, $1000 would be the absolute MAX but if I can avoid going that high it'd be preferable. I was trying to keep it closer to $900

I'm all set on case, will be pulling everything out of my stacker 830 and using the fans already inside it. I've got 2 HDDs running but they're both 3+ years old an old 3.0 gbs and 1.5gbs so thats why I was looking at the cavalier, something new and fast to run windows and any often used programs saving the others for storage and less critical apps.

You could knock a few bucks off this by going with a cheaper cooler and also by going with a lesser mobo. Also, if you don't need an OS, thats $100 bucks there. You wont go wrong with the Asus x58 sabertooth mobo, it just costs about $25 more which is why i chose the MSI that I did. Was really just trying to get a reasonable Future Proof system that would be solid and stable. Ok, im done now. Good luck ; )

An interesting thought, hadn't honestly thought about dropping a level or two on the video card. As for the cooler, according to newegg, it's not 1155 compatible.

I have 10 H50's form my pseudo i7 930 WS and the plus is easy cleaning, the downside is it's not any better performer than the $21 extra.

Unless you're rendering 8 GB vs Better GPU & 4GB is a no brainier. As mentioned if you don't need an OS, e.g. Family Pack (3) Windows 7 Premium then get your 8GB RAM.

Also, a 500GB SATA3 HDD vs +$5 1TB is another no brainier. A SATA3 HDD offers ZIP performance gain over it's SATA2 HDD cousin. BOTH HDDs are limited to 120~140MB/s which is 1/2 SATA2 limit of 300 MB/s and 1/4 SATA3 limit of ~600 MB/s.

10 FPS GTX 570 and it depends on the Game and Set-up. It makes no difference what GPU you choose as long as it performs well per your AA and Resolutions; I don't like anything under 8XAA. The GTX 560 Ti is capped at 2-WAY, but it's a good value.
