Hi,

I'm building a system for the first time and have watched a few YouTube videos related to the zsus x99, but can't get it to POST.

The system has:
1. ZSUS X99-8D4 Motherboard
2. 500w power supply with 24-pin and 8-pin cables connected.
3. GT 610 graphics card with hdmi cable connected to Dell Monitor.
4. Fan connected without thermal paste as the ad said thermal paste wasn't needed
5. NV ssd hard drive 512 gb
6. USB keyboard connected to ps2 adapter and ps2 adapter connected to purple kb port.
7. The motherboard was ordered with CPU and one 16GB RAM stick pre-installed.

The system powers up and fans run without shutdown. I recently replaced the graphics card GT 210 with GT 610.

Any thoughts on next steps or what needs to ordered for replacement?

Any help appreciated,

Diana

Can you post ad and or clarify ?

Has it worked at all with the GT 210.

If It did run with the GT 210 put it back in and than while it's in and working uninstall the GT 210 GPU driver.

Shut down and try the GT 610 again with the correct driver for that card.
It didn't work at all with either gt210 or 610. I tried a vga to hdmi converter powered from one of USB ports, but no hdmi posting.

I will post the ad in the next reply.

What do you think of ordering an x79 motherboard since both gt210 and 610 use ddr3 ram instead of ddr5 ram on x99 motherboard?

I don't know how to remove the driver from gt210, can you post instructions?

I checked the small instruction packet included abd the instruction packet said to use thermal paste, but none was provided.

The part number is a tsr127128 with pure aluminum compaction for process material., hydraulic bearings, 12025 fan type, 2200+-10% RPM, 19db noise value, for intel lga775, 1155, 1156, 1150 series and and socket am2, am3 fm1 series.

What thermal paste is good to order from Amazon?

The ad said bo paste and the instruction book says paste, confusing.

Did you install BIOS battery?
Can you show a photo of your system with side panel removed?
(upload to imgur.com and post link)

BTW - Getting 8 years old server board for first build is rather strange choice.
Yes,
I did install the cmos battery, but, I didn't install it when it first arrived
I bought the server board due to budget issues at the time

The image of the system is on

Let me know what you think.

Hi,

Thanks for recommending imgur.com

Here are the components, the motherboard and the two graphics I bought and tried, but they didn't post. I tried a VGA to HDMI converter, but, no post to my dell monitor.

In your photos you don't have graphics card installed.

What model cpu are you using?
Does the motherboard have necessary BIOS update level, to support this cpu?
What model ram are you using? Is it server ram (ECC registered) or desktop ram?
It's ECC registered server ram (the ling stick), the cpu is an Intel xeon e5-2650v4 @ 2.2 GHz, all fans are blowing. I tried both the 610 and 210 card and neither post.

I'm waiting for chip paste to arrive. I tried to run it with fan attached without chip paste. All fans ran and it ran without shutting down. But, to start it, I need tobturn the main power on and the push the lock switch shown for the board to power and fans to run.

I don't know if the bios has the proper update. I do have an xgo eeprom programmer if it needs replacing. I can't tell because no display on the screen, not even something like american megatrends intro bios screen output.

Can you read ram model names? Or show photo of ram, where info label is visible?
Anyway - try with regular desktop ram instead.

v4 cpu will not work with initial BIOS version.
You have to make sure, BIOS is updated to appropriate level.

Your board is from some noname chineese manufacturer, that doesn't provide any support.
I could not find any support web resources for this manufacturer.

If you can't get appropriate BIOS update, then there may not be any way for this cpu to work on this board.
