I want to to build a new machine with my existing case (atx mid tower) which currently has 200 watt smps (was running pentium-4 ddr-1 machine).

Now I want to install intel Q-57 motherboard with intel new core-3 processor ,1-500 gb hard disk , 1- DVD writer with blue ray reader, 4-gb ram.

I require this machine primarily to play HD movies ,HR pics & graphics. I dont intend to buy any grahic card as this motherboard has one on board. Not interested in gaming.

My question is can I use the existing case with old smps as this case is of very good quality. Or should I have to change the power supply. Can I install the new motherboard/processor/ram in this case.

As long as it is an ATX case, it will host the Q57 MB.

However, make sure that it is long enough if you want to insert a HD5870/HD5970 into it.

p.s.

But u have not advised about the smps on which I have my doubts. Also please comment about my suggested upgrade , will it be good enough to play hd movies and blue ray disks.
