Question New Cpu choice

hey everyone im going to be gaming and streaming on the same pc so I was wondering Ryzen 3900x or i9 9900k? I already have a RTX 2080 super 32gb of ram.

get whichever you want and use your 2080 to encode your stream.

if adamant about CPU encoding then obviously the Ryzen.

The Intel gets a few more frames when gaming compared to the 3900x. But I would suggest the 3800x over the 3900x if your use is primarily for gaming. If you need multi-threaded performance too, then go for the 3900x.

I just upgraded from an I7 960 to the x570 and 3800x. For me, I wanted to be as "future proof" as possible for this build.

With a 2070S, it's a monster and cheaper than the Intel offerings as well.

No Hyperthreading on the 9700, not a help if you plan on streaming while gaming.

You get more work done on 2 slower threads than a single faster thread. So the 9700k is going to reach limits faster than even an older 1st gen 1700 in some aspects, in others it won't.

Personally I'd opt for a 3800x on a decent x570 mobo and take full advantage of ram speeds and thread count.

If you've already purchased your ram you should check out the compatibility. Gaming plus streaming would recommend the Ryzen 3900x.
