Question New CPU freezes on startup, but old one is fine

I recently got the i5-9600k and it has been working fine for a month. All of a sudden, it starts freezing before windows even loads up. So, I got my old cpu (i3-8350k) and put it in to see if the CPU was in fact the problem. Sure enough, everything boots fine and I’m able to use Windows perfectly fine. Why would my new cpu start having problems ? The temperature of the i5-9600k is 35 degrees Celsius so I don’t think overheating would be the problem :/

Any BIOS updates for your MB ?

Yup going from 8 to 9 series is probably going to require a BIOS update.
