Question New cpu wont work but old one does work

I NEED HELPP, I upgraded from a 6700k to a 9700k, put in the 9700k and my pc turned on for a second, red cpu light on, turned off, switched back to my 6700k and it worked fine, I assumed it was the cpu so I went to replace it today, they gave me a new one, and the exact same problem, I know everything is plugged in as it should be and have a 700w psu (brand new) so ik it's not that, please help I have no idea what's wrong with it and cant find any answers online, my motherboard is a z170a and currently using a 1050ti because i just sold my other one off while waiting for the 3070

The Z170A chipset is incompatible with 9th gen Intel processors. You need a new motherboard.

When you are buying a new motherboard make sure its compatible with 9th gen intel processors the socket should be lga1151 300 series
