I recently bought amd 6950 xt, I installed the card along with the updated drivers. I tried to load up my first game and it loaded up fine and then after a certain point I get a black screen, causing me to have to restart. I bought the card more then 2 weeks ago from a big box store. And being that I couldn’t fix the crashing issue I took it back to them for diagnostics they claim that everything is fine, only after informing me that they aren’t allowed to play any online games. So they run software benchmarks that show everything working fine. I have read many Reddit forms that say its the crappy amd drivers but none of those fixes work. Help!

It’s a maingear 1200w and that’s the strangest thing, the fans don’t run at all after start up but that’s the strange part because I’m monitoring it and it’s not extremely hot

Did you use DDU to get rid of all previously existing drivers?

Many cards have fan stop below a certain temperature threshold but that's usually 60C at most before the fans kick in. I have a hard time believing you'd be able to run a game with no fan usage under 60C.

If the driver situation is clear and you're still having these issues then you should get a replacement card.

Yeah, I have done the whole DDU thing. I was hoping to avoid that situation being that I took the card to the places I purchased it from they tested it and said it was fine. In my system not on a bench. But I suppose I’ll have to go out there a get a replacement.

Yeah, if you properly used DDU and the card is still acting up, the card is defective. It should just work.
