New hdd problem

My new WD6400AKS shows up in "My Computer" but is not recognized when trying to install Vista onto it, or trying to clone another HDD to it with ghost. I can move or copy files to it through explorer.

Any suggestions on what the problem might be? I've tried different cables, different ports on the mobo, a full format and a quick format.

Do you have another drive in the computer? Its possible that you don't have native support for SATA drives. Would need more computer info for that.

Sounds like you have SATA mode set to AHCI or RAID in the BIOS, you may need to install an additional driver... but i havent seen this with Vista before as most of them are included with the installer.
