Hello everyone, I am new to building a PC but I have done research around various websites and finally have decided on few parts. I am planning on buying a high-end PC for gaming and future-proof. I want a computer for best bang for the buck. Doesn't necessary have to be the best of the best. Please tell me your opinions, critiques, any feedback is greatly appreciated. I am going to be ordering from New Egg on 8/25/08, this coming Monday, so I want to be assured I am not making a mistake anywhere.

Case: Antec Twelve Hundred ATX* - $155
Power Supply: Antec TruePower Quattro TPQ-1000 1000W* - $154
Motherboard: EVGA 790i Ultra SLI DD3 ATX Intel - $340 [rebate: $30]
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad9450 2.66 GHz - $325
GPU: EVGA gtx 280 SuperClock Edition to 621MHz - $450 [rebate: $40]
Memory: mushkin 4GB(2x 2GB) DDR3 PC3 (12800) - $330
CD: ASUS 20X DVDR DVD Burner SATA DRW-2014L1T Retail - $37
HD: Seagate Barracuda ST3500320AS 500GB 7200RPM SATA 3.0GB/s OEM - $80
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit OEM - $100
Monitor: SAMSUNG 2253BW 22" 2ms Widescreen - $260 [rebate: $20]
Speakers: Logitech X-540 70W 5.1 - $79

*Case and Power Supply has a -$100 discount combo

Sub Total: $2,310
Shipping: $75.37
Grand Total: $2,385.37

Rebate: -$90

(I would really not want to pass the $2,500 total mark so please take that into account)

Questions:

Will everything be compatiable with little or no trouble?
Any brands I should consider swapping out?
Will I be able to assign my current CDRead drive as C: with windows install and HD as D: as storage device when i partion the drives?
Do I need a sound card (recommend if so) or will the onboard sound be sufficient for my current sound?
Will I need any extended cables for this Antec Twelve Hundred case with my current setup?
Is it recommended buying OEM or retail? Also, will my case supply power cables for my OEM HD?
After receiving my shipping box, do I need anything else to assemble my PC besides the screwdiver/anti-static and obvious mouse and keyboard?

In the distant future, I plan to continue adding two more EVGA gtx 280 SuperClock Edition to 621MHz and I also plan to do some major overclocking and adding a cooling system when overclocking.

Also, if you have any experience with the Antec Twelve Hundred ATX please tell me if there were any other things required like cable extensions, fans, ect.

I will consider any change you may suggest with any reasonable means so don't be shy to post! I will check very often for responses!

q9550 is currently the same price as the 9450 on new egg. i would also drop the ddr3 memory and mobo for ddr2. you wont really see the benefits of ddr3 till nehalem.

I would also use the money you save going from ddr3 to ddr2 to invest in a bigger monitor (at least 24 inch). All that graphics power is gonna be a bit of a waste on a 22 inch.

@iluv
Those look like some really good suggestions, I will definitely consider it

@shawnbie
I also have a 32" 720p/1080i hdtv i might plan on using
