[citation][nom]xenol[/nom]I hate this type of advertising schema, the "I'm better than you". Why do I want to support a tightly proprietary company that thinks they're superior in every way?[/citation]
I know, it's like paying someone trying to steal your money and then bragging about how they are soooooo cool because they could.

[citation][nom]the_one111[/nom]I would laugh so hard..I would even pay for that....[/citation]

That would make me "LMAO"

The entire "iPod" revolution is baloney.

I cannot see how one would choose to buy a +100 dollar iPod just for being so popular.

As the owner of one, I am very disappointed aeeing how I could simply put all my music on my Nokia N95 which "pwns" the stupid iPhone with its $5 dollar apps and GARBAGE 2 mp camera. Take note of why sales are down in Japan of the iPhone.

Basically put, Apple and all its products are for retards looking for the more simplistic, expensive products.

Not saying my Nokia N95 doesn't have a good interface...

I don't get this. Apple has been running 30sec commerical bashing pcs for years. Microsoft ran the I'm a pc series and now spends 8 seconds in the laptop buying series saying why people are looking at but aren't buying a mac. Apple hasn't done anything different than what they always do so why now is this new add upping the childish ante? Its not anything different than what we have seen from them for a while. I love how now that MS put a minor comment in about macs this set of apple commericals have taking the bickering to an all time high. Yeah right

the thing is they are far from superior. More secure solaris and most version of linux such as red hat or ubuntu are more secure. Windows supports more devices than macs ever will and there hardware is prone to overheating and failure. My cheap dell laptop has been running fine for 3 years now but my college roommates macbook pro just 2 years old has been back to the factory twice for component failure. Why seriously can't apple just talk about there own product without bashing the other ones. Also cudo's for Microsoft for making a good ad without the xbox in it. I have never spent money on an apple product and I never will.

Wow, claiming that OSX doesn't need drivers is just stupid apple....

On an unrelated note, this reminds me of exactly how the republicans run every campaign I have witnessed in my life (I'm only 21) the only time you hear their candidates name is when they say that they are endorsing the add, after an entire add of saying what their competitor doesn't do. Apple is pretty much giving Microsoft/PCs a shitload of free screen time haha.

Wait! Does Apple mean you don't have to install peripheral drivers on the Mac! What have I been doing all these years when I install a printer or other devices on a Mac? I always downloaded and installed a driver. What WAS I thinking!?!

you thought that was their worst ad? what about the biohazard suit one. they indirectly say that macs dont get virus's. lets see how apple feels when they get a big virus like conflicker. (which MS patched in october.)

DAMN STRAIGHT

I still play Marathon on my old G4 sometimes so I'm neutral.

Apple: People who don't know dip$h1t about comps
Windows: People who want compatibility
Linux: People who know how to code well
OS/2: People who won't upgrade
Unix w/o GUI: People who don't get out much

There 4 new Ads in total but Apple has not addressed how it is superior than Windows 7.

Although I know it is, I'm just curious how Apple will convey that message since now Windows 7 lacks all the (early release version of) Vista problems and that Vista itself does not have those problems anymore.

In return, I'd much rather see Microsoft advertise its value of its operating system and softwares by addressing how good it is rather than how cheap it is. (Think games, Mac lacks game titles. remember: Quantity brings quality)

My brother will buy just what ever toothpaste that is "On Sale" as long as it's 17cm (6.69inch) long--just like Lauren and her 17" laptop, but not me and not other tomshardware readers that don't mind paying over $3,000.00 for a dream machine.

There are PCs out there that carries expensive brands like Acer Ferrari, Asus Lamborghini, (I've also heard of a rumor about Aston-Martin BenQ) but I am so disappointed that Microsoft had failed to address that Apple had never done something like Apple-Bentley.

Or is it just Microsoft that refuses to serve us the high end dream machine customers just like Apple refuses to serve corporate customers?

Companies acting childish in their standoff against each other? What news!

MS is being childish too, its ad where the guy claims Mac's are all about the aethetics and not substance is complete BS (especially how the guy chooses an HP HDX in the end, lolz).

The point of the Mac Commericials though is valid. PC's still don't have the simplicity and ease of use of Macs. Go to your local Best Buy and watch the number of people walking to GeekSquad to see that.

Also, about driver support:
The reason OSX Leopard has such a large harddrive image is because it has many printer and mouse drivers pre-loaded. I've yet to have to download and install a printer for a Mac yet.

Also, Mac seemlessly links up with its Airport Wireless router and Time Capsule Storage. Windows systems always need some "finessing" to do that.

[citation][nom]LockPick[/nom]Yes there are overpriced PC's, but people in their right frame of minds don't buy those.I still think both Ad Campaign's suck compared to the N64 ad's[/citation]

Hahaha! I never saw that until now, pure genius!!

If the Apple commercials were honest, they'd go more like this:

John Hodgman: I'm a PC

Justin Long: And I'm a hipster douchebag.

Oh come on "Tom". Your anti-Apple bias is showing (again). The Mac commercials have it all over the Microsoft ones, mainly because they are funny, and have a basis in truth.

Try This! Go to Best Buy's website and price laptops with 17" $1800 and up. You find a nice apple...and an hp with a quad core cpu, 1080p screen, 500gb hdd, and blu-ray drive nearly a thousand dollars less. When it comes to hardware, I don't need a commercial to tell me who's the better buy. Plus, does anyone think it's easier to replace hardware on a mac?

Of course, Windows will work with any backup drive out of the box, while Apple specifically made their Time Capsule drive work with Mac OS X and disregarded all other external drive makers to make their own backup software for Mac OS X.

Not that anyone users Mac these days...but felt the need to point it out.

Will some hacker/virus writer please cook up a nice nasty virus that will burn all of these conceded arrogant mac/Apple morons to the ground? Since most Apple users have basically no clue how a computer works they will have to ask us PC guys to fix them up. We shall calmly respond with our middle finger. F*** you Apple.

I owned several Pc's over the years and i must say i have had just about
everything amaginable happen under 98 , xp,Vista. I made the switch to
Imac and i can tell you the silliness has ended. My Mac is alot more stable
and no viruses not to mention driver issues. Yes you can make the argument
that their isn't as much software out there for the mac compared to the PC, but
for me that's ok cause it's a small price to pay to rid myself of all that crasyiness
that most encounter useing a PC. The sad part for Microsoft is that alot of Mac
owners have installed Xp on their mac's as a secondary OS. to cover software that
isn't available for their Imac and Xp is actually working more stable on the Imac's.

Time Machine works with ANY drive, most OS X technology works with most peripherals. Those who say is a dummed down branch of BSD, please, point out an example of interoperability or compatibility issues.

The screen size, is irrelevant, the Laptop hunters commercial, they are looking for a 17" inch screen. And they end up with a cheap HP laptop with a 17" screen that has the same resolution of the 13.3" Macbook.

I am an electrical engineer. I need the computatonal power and a unix based os. I am sorry to tell you the macbook pro works for me. Why?, well. I don't have the time to be hunting for drivers for linux I did that at some point when I was a student, it was fun, but the linux experience is not a consistent one. The different software components don't work seamlessly at least not for me, it is the frankenstein of the OSs, is it useful and a great teaching tool, but is not your everyday OS, GTK is sloooow as hell, and there are tons of GUIs based on GTK (GNOME anyone?). Linux is a niche operating system, it fulfills other needs tho.

When the macbook or mbp was just launched some said the macbook pro was a very expensive machine. I went to www.dell.com right away and the price of the newly launched mbp vs a comparable dell pretty much a tie. I agree after a couple of months the magnitude of the "apple tax" really grows, but replacing the hardware of a machine like the mbp to keep the value is difficult. And lowering the price of the machine would make it vary hard to justify the kind of investment required to have this type of engineering and build.

These are some of the things I have come to appreciate:

-The mic, is often forgoten, but works amazingly well, you can have face to face skype call without headset.
-The free fall sensor has been a life saver for a while now.
-Backlit keyboard.
-Ambient light sensors.
-Great screen.
-aluminum body.
-battery life in the 6+ league with wifi and mid brightness, mid load..
-Glass screen(not easy to scratch, great for a screen freak like me).
-1" thin, and 5.5 pounds for the 17 incher.

And some things I hate:

-Windows drivers for bootcamp.
-New trackpad.
-5400 RPM base option!?

For those who say, MAC OS X is for dumb people, you are fooling yourself, there is absolutely nothing dumb in making something easy for others. It is the smart way to do things. To enable people to do the same things with less effort. that is one of the highest goals of good engineering and good design. I believe the design philosofy behind OS X is to make those things that people use 99% percent of the time very simple and accesible, the great thing is that the 1% left, is still available if you know where to look.

I do agree is PC hardware, but if you think that a person doesn't see that, well, may be they don't care, its not like they hide the specifications of their computers. People wants a hassle free computer experience, they don't want to meddle with the machine's guts, they don't feel the passion in hardware like most of us do, Apple offers them that, and if they as consumers don't demand their money's value, they would waste their money anyway from any vendor, not just apple, please don't use mindless consuming drones in examples, or John and Jane doe, it is a waste of time and beside the point. You must pick whatever suits your needs best.

MAC OS X, is not the most secure OS in the world, granted, but for the time being it is much more less likely to get infected in OS X, that in windows, you have to admit it is a fact and people pays for that. You must understand there is value in people's time, people pays for not hacing to spend/invest time in things they don't like to do and sees as a waste of their efforts. Uninstalling preloaded software, installing antivirus software, battling windows cancel or allow windows, spending fifteen minutes for vista to boot (I have seen this a lot). Having to carry an extra battery (or two, most vista laptops hardly break the 2 hour mark). And of course I know most of those things could be solved by anyone like you, but please understand, some people pay for not having to!. Others pay for the little details, others as I said before, are mindless consumers, but you can't fight those.

Oh, one last thing, for those that compare LAPTOPS to custom built DESKTOPs, you people are retards.
