[citation][nom]ie49589[/nom]Jane McEntegart always post the most opinionated, inflamatory, and biased news here on Tom's. She makes me feel when I read her stuff like I'm reading one of those gossip magazines that say anything they can to sell more.In other words pure crap!!![/citation]
That's a bit harsh now. There's nothing wrong with her opinions because that's what they are. The issue is Tom's policy of filling news articles with author's opinions.
This article would have been far more appropriate if entitled "Apple releases new adverts" and then had a neutral fact based news item. In my opinion the adverts don't up the "childish ante" one bit since they're the same format Apple has been using for the last few years. However, if Jane feels that way then her opinion should be voiced elsewhere, not in the main news article.
I would suggest the following: News articles on Tom's should be written from as neutral a standpoint as an author can manage. If they want to add their own personal opinion on it then they could do so via the same comment section we use. They could even pre-prepare their comment and publish it the second the article goes up thus ensuring first comment on the list. This wouldn't need any modifications to the systems Tom's Hardware use. If the author wants to write an obviously biased story based on some news then the title of the news should be clearly labelled as such. For example in this case it could be "Opinion: New Mac Ads Up The Childish Ante".
