Hey guys, first time poster long time lurker. so im having a BSOD problem with a brand new pc that i just built a few weeks ago. the pc will BSOD basically every day, mostly for WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR but have bsod for other things. i thought maybe something went wrong with my install of windows 10 so i reinstalled last night and still get the bsod (only once so far). i have unseated everything on my mobo and reseated it, including switching the two DIMMS. i have updated every driver and have reset mobo to default. If im playing games i have no BSOD but while just sitting on my desktop, lock screen, clicking start menu, changing apps etc will cause the blue screen and restart. i have my dump file zipped, and a shareable copy made available. also will link my PC components. thank you!

hey thanks for your reply! i think it was actually the MSI Dragon Center app was fighting with my EVGA Precision x1 app/the mobo bios settings? i kind of thought that it may be that but decided to reformat my pc. i blue screened once, but not since. i think that one may have been bios related. thanks!

MSI Dragon centre may include the same driver that comes with MSI Afterburner so it is possible that it was a conflict between the two programs. WHEA errors can be caused by IO drivers, of which Afterburner is one.

In case it happens again, Can you follow option one on the following link - here - and then do this step below: Small memory dumps - Have Windows Create a Small Memory Dump (Minidump) on BSOD - that creates a file in c windows/minidump after the next BSOD

copy that file to documents

upload the copy from documents to a file sharing web site, and share the link in your thread so we can help fix the problem

I hate to revive a dead post, and I appreciate everyone stepping in to help. to update, my issue isn't solved. I noticed the model for my ram wasn't on the support list so I bought new memory (Corsair vengence pro rgb 3600mhz) using a product number that was listed on the official support list. I have no xmp, no game mode, and no bios oc changes of any sort. drivers are up to date for bios, and PC. I was reformatting my PC yesterday with bios reverted to default, and I ended up bluescreening mid setup. would bent motherboard pins be a major concern? I have 2 maybe 3 pins slightly bent. also would a faulty psu give these blue screens whea uncorrectable error related? I'm thinking mobo, cpu, psu, SSD or gpu is causing my issue. I built the same build for my buddy a month after mine (with the exception of different psu, and SSD) and he is having 0 issues. also I reformatted my computer so I will set it up and post my files from my next dump

Bent pins (CPU?) can certainly cause major issues; include photo of bent pins. Also a bad PSU can also cause your issues.
cpu socket ** sorry about that. I will include a picture later this evening! i don't think I am eligible for warranty/rma service on my msi mobo if they have bent socket pins, if someone can confirm.. last thing I wanna buy is a new mobo :(

hey @onespeedbiker thanks for getting back to me initially and again after 4 months later, I appreciate that a lot. I wanted to share some info in hopes of getting a better understanding. when I first built my PC I didn't add my 2tb Seagate barracuda right away. it was after 4 or 5 days that I decided to add the HDD in. it was sometime after I installed my HDD that I started bluescreening. i also do remember getting a "page fault in nonpaged area" bsod once when most of them are WHEA uncorrectable errors and this made me think memory, it wasn't, I tried 3 identical 3200mhz kits before getting my 3600 kit and bluescreen on all 4 kits. I had read yesterday that page fault in nonpaged area can be storage related. I was in scho until 4, and then at work until 1030 last night so I didn't have the time to get a picture of my bent socket pins BUT I did unplugg my HDD and let the PC idle overnight as I have been lately to see if /when it would crash overnight. last night is the first night that I didn't bluescreen with it left idling, and I even left it on all day while in school and have my roommate check up on it every few hours. still haven't crashed. so my question is, do this sound normal? could the whea uncorrectable error/page fault in nonpaged area actually be linked to my HDD and possible that my HDD is causing my bsod? maybe it's possible that the sata controller on the motherboard itself is just failing when connected to my mechanical HDD? i do not work today so I WILL be uploading the few minidump files that I have from the last couple days and would really appreciate it if you could have a look and comment on them :) thank you so much

edit: sorry for the double post, I'm used to forums automerging comments! edited to avoid a third comment, here are my mini dump files since fresh os (2 days) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1r-EkCHciAPzLhaBOZM42ljtxufj3dChy/view?usp=drivesdk

ran PC for about 36 hours. bluescreend last night at idle after I went to sleep. blue screened this morning at idle while I was in the shower. same error, ntoskrnl.exe error for one, and maybe the second one as well but was possibly hal.dll or pshed.dll as those are the 3 affected that are always affected

Those WHEA crashes can most definitely be because of the bent pins in the socket. I would first of all look to try with a different MB if you have the possibility.
thank you my man, I just ordered a mobo off Amazon prime yesterday, same one I have already. going to test it for a week and see what happens. all seemed to be going well after I unplugged my hdd, but I crashed 2 times overnight, and once today. ntoskrnl.exe

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1S0X1tgMTp8QvN9Ud-8Ui_oLJxgP5LJDL here are my mindump files from today. pc just crashed for irql not less or equal once. google points to memory, but this is the 4th kit i've tried and it does the same on all memory kits. i have also ran windows memory diagnostic and memtest86 on both OEM profile and xmp, no issues, test took around 2 hours 50 minutes

edit: what are the possibilities that my wd black sn750 is the issue/part of the issue? got a 970 Evo plus 500gb off a buddy, installed is and installed appropriate drivers and my usual base programs . PC has been running fine all day so far . here goes it continues. but would a SSD cause irql and whea bsod's? the drive ran insanely fast, was up to current drivers, no errors found in any scans with any programs

edit: spoke too soon, whea uncorrectable error pshed.dll

Are these errors on the new or old motherboard?

4th memory kit... its unlikely to be ram really unless you really unlucky.

irq errors can be software too.

If you still getting WHEA errors - run this on CPU - https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19792/Intel-Processor-Diagnostic-Tool

I get a friend to read dumps. I deselect solved answer since its not yet :)
thank you!! sadly the old motherboard.. my new one will be here Tuesday and I have a feeling that will be the fix. if it is I will be returning it and grabbing an aorus z390 pro wifi. I do get that it can be software related but I actually went into BSOD after the first stage of OS install, while going through the options for setup . I really hope I do not have to RMA my CPU :(

I don't think its worth looking at dumps (sorry @gardenman ) for 2 reasons:
  1. all the errors could be caused by current motherboard
  2. If you getting a new motherboard, you probably best do a clean install afterwards and that will force windows to get new drivers as well
I don't see many broken CPU but then I don't see many broken motherboards either. At least with CPU there are tests you can run (the Intel one and Prime95) but motherboards, you essentially test everything else and when everything else is fine, it has to be motherboard.

you know you have bent pins, it makes identifying problem much easier. CPU ran well enough with bent pins, it might be fine with straight ones.

thank you for that! i am pretty new to all of this but i search a LOT. my cpu seems to run great. i stress tested when i first posted back in october and did not come across any issues! the new motherboard is going to be here by tuesday. i am going to test it for a few weeks and if it solves my issue, i will likely return it, grab the Gigabyte aorus z390 pro wifi! i will update everyone in the following week! thanks so much

quick update! board came in 2 days later than expected; I had a big test and work after school the following day, so I didn't get it in until today. i went ahead and fired both ssd's in as they didn't seem to be the issue. I also booted right to game mode and XMP to see if it would crash/crash faster. PC has been on all day and running superb. will check back in after giving it a few days of my regular use (games/idle). by the way my system was crashing at idle 95% of the time, or while clicking something like start menu etc. never while playing games, just an fyi

Hi, I ran the dump file through the debugger and got the following information: https://mussierball.htmlpasta.com/

File information:030320-33593-01.dmp (Mar 3 2020 - 14:26:32)
Bugcheck:PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (50)
Probably caused by:memory_corruption (Process: iCUE.exe)
Uptime:0 Day(s), 17 Hour(s), 15 Min(s), and 18 Sec(s)

Comment: The overclocking driver "NTIOLib_X64.sys" was found on your system. (MSI Afterburner or other MSI software)

Possible Motherboard page: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MPG-Z390-GAMING-PRO-CARBON-AC
You have the latest stable BIOS already installed.

This information can be used by others to help you. I can't help you with this. Someone else will post with more information. Please wait for additional answers. Good luck.

thank you very very much for this. I have a Corsair icue smart case, memory, cooler and case fans. completely clean install to an unpartitioned nvme SSD. I do have dragon center from msi but this is the first time I've had it in months. I had these crashes on old MB without dragon software ever installed on a fresh os. I use it for mystic light this time instead of just downloading mystic light.
it fits, I ordered the memory that I have based on that support list. my best friend has the same build including case minus psu and SSD, he has 0 issues

update Intel management engine interface, latest dated Dec 27 2019, your installed version says its dated May 07 2019. Helps if it matches BIOS version - its under Other here - https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/MPG-Z390-GAMING-PRO-CARBON-AC#down-driver&Win10 64 - might help with BSOD.

so its not the hdd as you swapped in an nvme and still got errors.
New motherboard, at least the errors aren't whea now... so its a start
highly unlikely to be ram since you tried 4 sets and got errors each time
what hasn't been swapped?
CPU? - - https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19792/Intel-Processor-Diagnostic-Tool
Memory controller is on CPU so worth a look.
PSU? hard things to test
the paper clip method - https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/what-is-the-paperclip-method-of-testing-a-psu.1336402/

or multimeter,
or in the BIOS to check the +3.3V, +5V, and +12V. - https://www.lifewire.com/power-supply-voltage-tolerances-2624583

Did I miss anything? Case fans/CPU fans won't cause BSOD, although corsair cooler software could. NIce if they would stop using drivers from 2010 but I seen them enough times to know they okay. the 2 2010 drivers are for USB.
Does Icue run your Water pump as well?I assume it does. So Icue runs all fans I take it.
Which corsair case? 220T or 465X?

My apologies for the late delay again. there has been so much going on for me at home that i haven't had to chance to sit down and go through my pc; but here we are. i updated the intel management engine driver. I have tested my CPU multiple times in the past using the intel processor diagnostic tool and every time it came back ok. I would like to say that i have BSOD 2 times since my last reply, and two of them have been for WHEA, with the same affected files hal.dll and pshed.dll. my bios voltages do not indicate a problem with PSU but exactly as you said, hard to test. icue runs all fans and the 3 case/radiator fans speed. the rear and top exhaust use bios for fan rpm. case is corsair icue 465x
