New monitor issues and HDMI PC vs HDMI AV

Hello, I just took my new Viewsonic VX2439wm out of the box and hooked it up to my monitor and I'm having a little trouble. there are two HDMI input options, HDMI PC and HDMI AV. When I have HDMI AV selected, it displays everything fullscreen as it should. The problem is that the HDMI PC input looks much crisper and I imagine is running at 1080p, which the HDMI AV looks like it is not. The problem is that while on HDMI PC, there is about an inch of blank space all around the display. Any ideas?

I forgot to mention that I'm using 2 monitors and 2 HD 5770's. Thanks ill try that and let you know how it works.
