Hi quick question here I have just purchaced the nhd15 cooler noctuas latest tank! I am wondering if it would be possible to overclock the processor from 4ghz to 5 without any heat issues when under load, and if not what is the maximum I would be capable of. Thanks allot - tom
Edit I am using a asus z97 pro so I am aware that should be capable of pretty stocky over clocks.

Every processor overclockss differently. Some people (likely) have overclocked up to 5Ghz, some bricked it after 4.1. So it's pretty much random. If you'll be careful (and lucky) you may achieve 5Ghz. But start with a much, much lower OC.

Figure out your stable voltage minimum at stock speeds and add .05 volts for every bump in clock speed. I won't exceed 1.3 volts on a permanent basis with my 4790k. I've gone over 1.3 in o/c and I've been able to get 2 cores at 5.1gig. I'm not sure where my chip would rate. I've got a bit more cooling capacity than most.
