New PC keeps rebooting every 3 seconds. Removing RAM fixes the issue

Hello,

I have ASRock Z77 Pro3 Motherboard and Corsair Vengeance 8GB * 1 1600 MHZ RAM. I built my PC just today and found that it keeps rebooting again and again every 3 seconds before even the BIOS comes up. I removed the RAM and that seems to have fix the issue. Any idea, why is this happening? The RAM is completely new.

Any help would be appreciated.

Wait so you remove the ram and the PC boots up fine with no ram in the system at all?

Do PC's work without ram? I've actually never attempted to boot a comp with zero ram sticks installed.

Anyways common sense would say RMA the ram with corsair and get a new one for free. Or if possible send back to newegg or wherever you got it and choose something else.

If you want 8GB of memory in your system you should get 2x4GB since that will run in dual channel and 1x8GB will only run in single channel.

As to why it is happening, possible a pin may be damaged or that the memory is just defective in some way, no way for us to know for sure.

PC doesn't boot but atleast PSU doesn't go on and off in a loop. Thanks. Let me try to get RMA

Oops. My guess was wrong. I tried with a different RAM and it would still reboot. This different RAM seems to be working perfectly on different PC. Can it because I am only installing RAM in 1 slot?
