I bought a Ryzen 5 5500 along with a MSI B450 PRO-VDH MAX mobo. I went to install windows and update the BIOS (7A38vBB/not the latest update but is the one that supports 5000 series CPUs?) with my old R3 3200g APU no gpu, BIOS update was successful, I installed my GTX 1060 and it worked.
I then installed my new processor onto the motherboard with new BIOS version yet when I plugged in my GPU I got no post. I'm not sure if I did anything incorrectly.
Oddly enough pcpartpicker lead me to believe I wouldn't need to update the mobo's bios which is why I purchased it.
