[SOLVED] New RAM - unable to run at max speed

Hello all

yesterday, I decided to double the RAM in my rig. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the exact same RAM I had currently and it’s causing some issues.


My specs :
i7 - 9700K
Z390 Gigabyte Aorus Master
2x8GB GSkill 3000-16-18-18-38
500GB SSD
1TB HDD
250GB NVME
850W gold Corsair PSU

I purchase Corsair 3200-16-18-18-36 RAM yesterday and the only way I can get it to post is by setting everything to auto where it only runs at 2133MHz. I have tried manually adjusting everything to 3000-16-18-18-38, but it won’t boot - I get a post code of CC and then it kicks me into the bios where it reverts all my settings.

it only shows 1 XMP profile which is the Corsairs speed and that doesn’t work either.

Any ideas on how I can go about getting all the RAM to 3000mhz without returning/repurchasing new RAM?

that’s what I’ve tried doing. I set the values manually to what they’re supposed to be ran at and it doesn’t boot.

Try 2800 with 16-18-18-38 with 1.4 volts, if that works bump it up to 3000.

You are trying to use all 4 sticks right?

It's possible the memory is just not going to work together.

Yeah, all 4 sticks. I’ll try doing incrementing the speed up. Never really thought about that yet. What’s the max voltage you’d recommend for RAM? Don’t wanna blow it up lol

The 1.4 is safe might go to 1.45 but not sure I would.

Try the settings I suggested.

Max recommended voltage for DDR4 is 1.35V.
Anything higher than that can be considered extreme OC and is not recommended. You risk damaging cpu memory controller.

Like Zerk said, I tried putting it up to 2800mhz and it seems to be functioning just fine. I'm about to try bumping it up to 3000mhz to see if it'll (finally) work.
Current settings - 2800-16-18-18-38

Edit: There are 6 pictures on the Imgur link, but it only shows the previews for 5.

Edit 2: After going back into the BIOS with it at 2800, it showed me it was drawing between 1.256-1.356v of power at any given time after watching it for a few minutes. Looks like I might be power limited going up to 3000?

2800mhz-16-18-18-38 looks good.
Try 3000mhz-16-18-18-38.

But I wouldn't suggest going over 1.35V on DDR voltage.
