The stuff in my sig cost me $730 shipped. I didn't upgrade my OS, but you don't have a vid card listed. My vid card cost more than your OS does.

Sorry about the goof up. Comes to $921.18 shipped. That's $109 more than your original build, and it will be better. You didn't mention a vid card. Have one already, or planning to use on board vid? might think about trimming a little on your case/psu if need be. You can get a quality psu and case for less than $230.

If that's too much for you budget, let me know how much you can spend, and I'll see what I can come up with.

Thanks for you help. I just have few more questions...First of, somehow I like AMD more than Intel, I don't know why or may be I been used AMD for many years and like it????... If you know the good, the bad, and the ugly side between those two, I am listenning.

These are what I need: New system for games and AutoCAD

New OS since I want it to work with new system. Those old OS's I had are good for daily use...internet etc...

New PC case with power supply stay at the bottom of case, like Antec P180. (I like front panel lock or seal if possible, don't like my kid messing with the button.

Any 2GB RAM to work with new system. Average price

Like Seasonic M12 PS because of detachable cables/wires, but price? no thanks...look elsewhere for decent performance and good price.

Had 250GB Maxtor DiamondPlus 9 (good for AutoCAD, I guess), probably need new SATA HDD for gaming, 100GB should do it.

The mobo you selected need video card ( I thought I would use on board video card) So if I buy the one you selected then have to add the video price too with average price.

In all, just like I said AMD AM2 if possible, otherwise Intel is ok...

New system = $1000 flat

Medium gaming and AutoCAD that's it.

Is it just me or that some people buy memory based on prices? Not compatibility? Go to their sites & use the ram configurator to find compatible ram.

I recommend this setup. Either 7600 or X1600. The 450w psu is plenty for this pc. The case has a lockable door. The ram is 100% compatible with the board. You could add a 2nd 120mm case fan in the front for extra cooling.

I'm sorry I didn't meant by based on price by itself. I seen alot of rams out there with price range from $100-$500 or even more per 1GB RAM. But what I am saying is that the higher price range are food for overoclocker experts. I don't oc'ker so why not find price fit my budget and compatible with what i have had. (I forgot to mention compatible )...

Just curious, if I have intel mobo and intel cpu, can this cpu fit in any other amd mobo? or amd cpu into any intel mobo?

Sorry if I sounded harsh.

Intel & AMD cpus are NOT interchangeable. Heck, even an old Intel & new Intel CPUs are not. It's all about the cpu socket. The board I suggested works with most socket 775 CPUs. You can see this info on asus's board's specs site. Click cpu support on the left.

Don't worry. I picked the parts that are 100% compatible with each other. However, if you change 'em over & over, they may not. Ask newegg if you're in doubt.

Lastly, OEM means no accessories, manual, cd, & packaging. it usually is the part + an antistatic bag or a brown box. Don't get OEM. Get retail.

I'm trying to build a PC for Digital Audio Recording. These are the components I'm using:

I assembled everything yesterday, and when I cut the power on all of the fans work, the heatsink fan worked, and LED on the motherboard came on. However, The front LED on the Case turned on then went out(this may be a case thing, and not a big deal), there were two beeps, and my monitor says "no signal." I've tried swapping out the memory into different spots, I've checked all of the connections over and over again, and still the result is the same. I suspect that it is either the RAM, VIdeo Card, or a bad MOBO. I've yet to try messing with the CMOS. Is that a possibility?

If it's not, your ram is incompatible. Remove the board & have only cpu, cpu fan, ram & video. Boot it up. Try each stick in each of the slots. Attach speakers to the board for beep codes.

The P5B-DX has 1 4-pin cpu power connector. Newer & more powerful boards have 2. I would take a psu with 2 x 4-pin (4+4) cpu power connectors. However, my psu has only one & my board has two. My manual says it's ok to use one. It's working fine. 4+4 is a bit more future-proof.
