New rig

Hi folks.

I am getting a new rig, since my old one is pretty outdated.
The parts I've been looking at are these:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-M720-US3

CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE

RAM: 2x2 GB Kingston HyperX

GPU: Club 3D GTX 275 1,75 GB

I have all the other needed components.

So my question to you is: Will this rig be able to run Crysis on very high settings, with a steady framerate of at least 30?

Now I know that most of you guys thinks it is stupid to select a new computer from wether it can play Crysis or not, but I don't really know how good it is, and Crysis is the game I play that needs the best performance, so it is my best shot of finding out if these parts are good enough for me or not.

If it can't, I would like to get some ideas of which part(s) I should get instead of the mentioned ones.
I don't care about who makes them except for the graphic card which must be nVidia (due to PhysX).

I know that I could just get for example a GTX 295, but I just don't have that kind of money, so the other parts must be in about the same pricerange as the ones i found myself.

to answer the crysis question you need to tell us the resolution you play with.

and just to let you know the 955 is AM3 (yes you can put it in an AM2+). If your mobo is AM3 you would be better off getting a 3x1GB ram than a 2x2GB as DDR3 needs 3 DIMMs to run as "tri-channel"

That is so wrong I don't even know where to start. Go stand in the corner and hang your head in shame.

Only x58 MB's have triple channel, AM3 only supports dual channel ddr3.

dual channel ddr3 is no better than ddr2.... so if that is what you want, save money and get an am2+

You are wrong.. learn before you open your mouth so as to not come off as such a moron.

Dual channel or tripple channel has absolutely nothing to do with ddr2 or ddr3.

I play with 1600*1200 (yes i have a 4:3 screen), but if it's needed i think i can go down to 1280*1024

And now you confused me with that discussion lol, are you saying it doesn't fit in the mobo i found?

Sorry for the confusion, but correcting the other guy was required... Your rig will work fine. This is a god example of why peolpe who have no iidea what they are talking about should not open thier mouths and offer help to people that may actually need it..

As for performance.. at "max" settings you will not get 30fps at all times in crysis.. at your native resolution. However, it will be close, and easily attainable with a touch lower AA.

Crysis is a bad example of a game.. it doesnt perform well. Overclocknig the cpu or gpu might give somemore fps.

I hope it's ok if i reopen this thread, now with another graphics card in my mind.

How would the ATI HD 4850 X2 CrossFireX (1 or 2 GB) do compared to the Club 3D GTX 275 1,75 GB?

I am not allowed to edit my post, so i'll just make a new one real quick, i know that only nVidia graphics cards has PhysX, but does ATI have something similar?

ATI will probably have HAVOK physics accelerated with the GPU soon enough. PHysX at this point in time is pointless as it is rarely used. When an open standard is addopted nvidia and ati will both handel them fine, then perhaps games will incorperate it.

Anyway, as for the 4850x2, it will perform a good chunk faster than a gtx275 or a 4890.
